Sreesanth Bowls India Into Finals - Pakistan 9/266

India's rising star paceman Shanthakumaran Sreesanth matured in the space of a match as he bowled his team into the VB series finals against Australia with a clynical display of right arm fast bowling as Pakistan fell 36 runs short of Indias target at Brisbane. Sressanth took 5/60 from 10 overs to crush Pakistani hopes of a victory and a place in the finals, the young paceman highlighting his potential with the huge scalps of 4 of the top 6 Pakistani batsmen.

(The Pakistan worm looked on track for the majority of the match, but couldnt match the sensational climax from Tendulkar and company)

(Sreesanth stepped up to the world stage with 5/60)

Match Presentation

"Well its really rewarding for all the hard work we have put in this year to come out on top against such competitive rivals and to find ourselves in the VB finals against the top team in the world. We are all ready now and im sure it will be a thrilling series. I was so impressed with the way we responded to our defeat at the hands of Pakistan earlier in the competition. Sachin and Sreesanth were wonderful"

Rahul Dravid
(Indian Captain)

"Its a sad way for us to go out in this competition. We came here with the hope of making the finals and then going from there. The way we applied ourselves today was less than impressive. Having said that every time anybody tours Australia you generally learn something about your game, what the young players have to do now is to take this away and improve their game."

Inzamam-ul-Haq
(Pakistan Captain)

"I have felt really comfortable in this series and for it too finally click is just great. Leading into the finals im sure it will give everyone alot of confidence and I just hope that this feeling continues because at the moment im on the top of the world. But its back to business now and we have to concentrate on getting a victory to keep this momentum going into the finals."

Shanthakumaran Sreesanth
(Man of the Match)

Heres 1 more post to your thread. Great story so far, and the finals between India and Australia looks to be interesting...

Btw: Looks like Sreesanth either lost alot of hair or grew alot of hair in the space of one match, looking at ur last 2 posts for the Ind vs Pak match :D

Australians Arrive In Brisbane

The Australian one day team has taken on a much different look ahead of the final one day match of the VB group games against India at Brisbane. The home side, currently atop the competition with 9 points, have brought in a far more inexperienced side to contest game 6 of the series. Adam Gilchrist has taken a much deserved rest from the keeping duties along with in form stars Brett Lee, Michael Hussey, Andrew Symonds, and Brad Hogg.

Mark Cosgrove and Daniel Cullen are the big news point of the day, making their one day debut. Both played in the Twenty20 match between the 2 sides, also at the GABBA. In that match Cosgrove made a brutal 63 from only 40 balls to confirm his position as Australias bright up and coming star. Brad Haddin also makes his first appearance of the VB series, as does Victorian captain Cameron White.

Australian Lineup
1. Phil Jaques
2. Michael Clarke
3. Ricky Ponting (c)
4. Brad Haddin (wk)
5. Michael Hussey (vc)
6. Mark Cosgrove
7. Cameron White
8. Daniel Cullen
9. Nathan Bracken
10. Stuart Clark
11. Shaun Tait

(Brad Haddin finally gets a crack at the first team)

(Cameron White is given a chance as the Australian allrounder)

India Without Change

Indian coach Greg Chappell has elected to keep his winning side together for the remaining group match of the VB series. Chappell has elected to play the same team that crushed Pakistan at Brisbane only yesterday, hoping that the core of the side will continue to fire. Indian fans in the Queensland capital have been buzzing since the defeat of their arch rivals, keen to see the young paceman Sreesanth again perform against the world champions.

Indian Team
1. Mahendra Dhoni (wk)
2. Virender Sehwag (vc)
3. Sachin Tendulkar
4. Rahul Dravid (c)
5. VVS Laxman
6. Yuvraj Singh
7. Mohammad Kaif
8. Irfan Pathan
9. Harbhajan Singh
10. Zaheer Khan
11. Sreesanth

(Sreesanth, seen here dismissing Inzamam ul Haq during his 5 wicket haul, will look to continue his hot run of form against the in form Australians)
