Man these venues don't deserve test cricket. Give it to Chennai, been deprived of test match cricket over the years. This is just a crappy atmosphere.

only the metropolitan cities and classic grounds should host tests.
wankhede / brabourne, eden gardens, kotla, MAC chepauk, chinnaswamy etc..
the names itself oozes out the romance and history of test cricket.

The pitch is slow. According to the curator the rain over the last few days has prevented the pitch from hardening up. Ideal batting conditions will probably be tomorrow once the pitch has dried up a bit.

Gutted Katich is usually our rock till he gets to 90, we certainly could have used a platform. Over to Ponting to step up now.

I still can't believe they actually picked Mohali as a venue. They will never learn that Mohali should only be used for T20 or ODI cricket.

Mohali, Ahmedabad, Nagpur should never be hosting test matches against the big sides. They spoil the show. I have said this numerous times and some people took offence to it as well. Test cricket should be restricted to the major/traditional venues like Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Kanpur and Bangalore. It is disgusting to have a good home test against top sides being played out in empty stadia.

You would have had a full house at Eden or Mumbai for this game. The majority public in Nagpur , Mohali and Ahmedabad do not have a test cricket culture and you will never get good crowds there irrespective of the hype.

By the way, who are the commentators for this series? I`m following it on cricinfo at the moment.
