After a very strange Test series, which India should of won, both teams are on highs. Bangladesh weren't expecting to win the first Test match, but gave their all and deserved the win. India came back in the second Test match against a lack lustered Bangladesh and duly smashed them. India have the form but I wouldn't ever rule Bangladesh, not after recent months where they have risen from being underdogs. I'm sure the team that wins, will thoroughly deserve its victory.
Virendar Sehwag and Dheeraj Jadhav will start the One Day series for us against Mashrafe Mortaza and Hasibul Hossain. From the off, Bangladesh looked very economical. Heck, India were only 11/0 off 5 overs. Bangladesh didn't waste time looking for that opening wicket, and although many supporters wanted Jadhav out more, Sehwag was the man to go. It was a poor innings from Viru in a situation which now brings Tendulkar to the crease.
Virendar Sehwag went to defend a straight delivery from Mortaza, but the ball did not bounce as much as the destructive batsman had anticipated and it bounced off his pads. The Umpire had an easy choice, with the fans and players alike, witnessing the finger go up. Sehwag had to walk back to the pavilion with only 7 runs to his name, from 18 balls. Mortaza has bowled 3 overs, like Hossain, and has figures of 1-10. Hossain however has kept it tight and only conceded two runs off his three overs. 15/1.
V Sehwag - lbw Mortaza - 7(18)
Tendulkar's first ball was not as majestic as he would of hoped. A bouncer from Hossain saw Tendulkar duck and raise his bat, edging the ball through the slips for four runs. India have been let off there. Hossain ended his 5 over spell poorly, going for an eventual 21 runs whilst Mortaza got one wicket for 14 runs. Tendulkar is a major lover of spin and he would now get to face his favourite type of bowling. Jadhav on the other hand, didn't look as confident.
Jadhav didn't last long, however, as Bangladesh got one of their main targets. Jadhav fell the same way as his fellow opener, lbw, but was comprehensively beaten by some spectacular spin. 20 runs was all he could manage as Bangladesh have the best start to a One Day International that they have had all season. Hasan was the bowler to pick up the wicket and the spinning duet of Hasan and Sunny have continued Bangladesh's early start. Rahul Dravid now accompanies Tendulkar at the crease.
D Jadhav - lbw Hasan - 20(41)
Hasan even got Tendulkar to play and miss, such was the awesomeness of his current level of bowling. Sunny wasn't having as much luck, but was bowling economically. Hasan then picked up his second wicket, that of Rahul 'The Great Wall of Indian' Dravid. Dravid came down the ground, which surprised everyone, as he mindlessly swung the bat and missed the ball completely, giving Saleh an easy stumping. 9 runs was not what India were looking for from their number four. Laxman is now in and the weather has taken a turn for the better for India as it is just complete sun. 58/3.
R Dravid - st Saleh b Hasan - 9(15)
Laxman being a spin loving machine saw some bowling changes. Sunny was taken out of the attack for Sadat and Hasan was taken out of the attack for Hossain. The changes that Bashar made ended up getting the next important wicket! Sachin Tendulkar is India's God on Earth, but he has been anything but a God with this innings. More of a peasant. His innings started with an edge and it finished the same way. Hossain taunted him with an in swinging delivery from the off stump, which Tendulkar took and edged through to Saleh. 71/4 and India in turmoil.
S Tendulkar - c Saleh b Hossain - 19(39)
Bangladesh have bowled like legends. They have restricted India to a mere 85/4 score at the half way mark. Laxman and Dhoni are both 10* but haven't looked menacing enough against Bangladesh's bowling attack. Sadat bowled his last over of his opening spell as he went for 17 runs off his 5 overs. It didn't see any wickets, or any chances for that matter, but it was good line and length and some promising stuff from the youngster. Arafat Sunny and Mashrafe Mortaza were brought in to replace Nazmus Sadat and Hasibul Hossain.
Sunny hadn't of had the best start with the ball in the match but he had just improved his fortunes tenfold. Mahendra Singh Dhoni bent forward and tried to play a straight drive to a short delivery from Sunny but couldn't only end up in hitting the ball high into the sky. Underneath it Sadat made a massive shout acknowledging it was his. He took the catch easily to dismiss Dhoni for 10 runs. India now had Sharma in at the crease, and after their next wicket, Bangladesh would be into the tail. What magnificent bowling. 91/5.
M Dhoni - c Sadat b Sunny - 10(26)
Laxman now had to play an innings that would see him take no risks and not get out. Not his usual innings by any means. Sunny now was bowling terrificly well and making Sharma play and miss numerous times. Hasan was brought into the attack for Mortaza as Bangladesh looked on for their next breakthrough. Sunny was brought in for his final over of this spell which went for 6 runs. Mortaza was brought back into the attack, which was a shock for the majority of spectators.
Sadat was brought in at the other end for Hasan and needed to keep it tight. Mortaza however got the big, big, big wicket of Laxman in his ninth over. It was his first wicket, but he couldn't of timed it any better. Laxman looked on as the pace of the delivery from Mortaza just dumb founded the batsman. It was a decent innings from Laxman, but India needed him to stay in with the tail to try and get them towards 200 runs. That wasn't looking likely now. Sharma now has to bat with the tail. 120/6.
V Laxman - b Mortaza - 26(63)
Harbhajan Singh didn't get the best start ever, as he edged Mortaza right through gully where there was no fielder. Lucky. Next over however and Sharma had gone. Sadat was the man with the wicket as yet another batsman fell for lbw. Sharma left the ball, but it generate alot of spin and looked destined for the wicket. Sharma didn't look happy at all, quite bemused, and thought it was missing leg stump. The Umpire's word is final however and India have lost another wicket.
J Sharma - lbw Sadat - 18(27)
Runs were becoming hard to come by and India found themselves stranded on 129/7 off 41 overs. There were now a flurry of bowling changes, with Bangladesh looking for more and more wickets. A relatively simple delivery from Hasan, no special spin or succulent surprise, just a simple delivery was Kumble's undoing. He play all around the ball, which continued through to his stumps. 6 runs isn't too bad for a bowler but India are now going to be lucky if they manage 150! Hasan may be bowling his last over but he is looking more determined to get wickets than ever! 137/8.
A Kumble - b Hasan - 6(12)
Hasan then went for 5 more runs in the over to finish his 10 overs with remarkable figures of 3-35! Arafat Sunny was the man to get the next wicket, as he didn't want to get outdone by Hasan. Singh had no chance with a delivery from Sunny which would of even unsettled the likes of Tendulkar and Jadhav. The ball went through to clip the bails and India were nine down. 148/9.
G Singh - b Sunny - 5(15)
Alas, India's innings is over. They could not even manage 150! Bangladesh have bowled quite brilliantly here today and have exceeded any expectations they had. Mortaza bowled Maniar for a six ball duck as he recorded figures of 3-24! The bowling on a whole by Bangladesh was something which we have not seen from this side, in One Day Internationals, for a long, long time. A very special performance so far. You have to think though, that if Bangladesh can bowl India out for such a low score with the sun blaring on, then how are they going to cope with the bat when they have the clouds? We'll soon find out how they far.
S Maniar - b Mortaza - 0(6)
End of Innings - India 149 Laxman 26
Jadhav 20
Mortaza 3-24
Hasan 3-35
India were the favourites made by the bookies, but the people of the world were backing Bangladesh all the way. Bangladesh have repaid their faith so far with a sensational bowling effort by all concerned. India couldn't get going and their partnerships crumbled one after another. The Indian bowlers now have a big job to do and need early wickets if they want to have any chance restricting the Bangladesh batsmen in their search for this score. India have it all to do, and surprisingly, Bangladesh are on top.
Nafees and Omar would open the innings for Bangladesh once again, with Omar having to bat well if he wants to keep his place in this Bangladesh team. So what does he do? Gets out. In the third over of the match, Maniar gets the early breakthrough. Javed Omar made only two runs before he edged a wide ball through to Dhoni; terrible shot. He is a waste of space in this team and the quicker Sir Ian Botham gets rid of him, the better. 5/1.
J Omar - c Dhoni b Maniar - 2(8)
Habibul Bashar was now in and he batted through to the tenth over with Nafees. 21/1 was a poor start but both batsmen were now getting settled and could score a little more freely now. Kumble was now being introduced into the attack. Kumble, inevitably, got the next wicket as Bashar had a rush of adrenaline and went to hit Kumble straight over his head, but missed the ball and heard the dreaded sound of ball on pad. The Umpire lifted his finger, and that was him out. Another silly wicket given away by Bangladesh with India coming back into this match. 27/2, Mr. Dependable gone.
H Bashar - lbw Kumble - 8(39)
Harbhajan Singh came into the attack as India opt for two spin bowlers. The spin attack didn't seem to be working very effectively, however, as Bangladesh raced to 62/2 after 21 overs. Nafees was batting out of his skin and showing the bowlers how dangerous a batsman he really is, despite his tender age. With Anil Kumble starting to look a tad tired, India choose to bring Joginder Sharma in to replace him.
Joginder Sharma goes for 8 runs in his first over; with Nafees hitting two boundaries. The first boundary however brought up his half century. After such a poor tour against Australia, for him, he has revolutionized his batting in this tour against India. Not only has he managed to secure these precious runs, but he has done it relatively quickly. 50* off 64 balls is not a bad return for a man desperate to impress and reward his loyal coach.
Nafees 50* off 64 balls
Maniar was brought in to replace H. Singh as Bangladesh were starting to run away with the runs. Maniar went for 8 runs in his first over back in the attack; just like Sharma had done. The pace has been terrible for India so far. The 100 mark was passed in Maniar's over as well as Islam looks to copy Nafees' aggressive approach and get the runs as quickly as possible. Lets just hope they don't give their wicket away like the two batsmen before them have done.
The run rate slowed down after the flurry of wickets and Nafees was looking more shaky with every ball that he faced. However, the introduction of Kumble almost got the breakthrough. Nafees was defending most deliveries now and went to defend a straight one from Kumble but he edged it on to his pads. Or did he? It was plumb in front of the wicket and despite the shouts by the Indian fielders, the Umpire deemed the ball to of hit the bat first. Replays show that it in fact hit the pads first. How lucky can you get?
The run rate increased once more and this was all Bangladesh needed as they soon hit the winning runs. Nafees ended on 86* but the winning runs were quite important. Naeem Islam hit two runs to end the match, and these two runs meant that he finished on 50*! It was a very special partnership from the start which amassed 124 runs in the end, without either batsman getting out. Bangladesh have beaten India easily, in every sense, but where exactly go wrong? My answer: everywhere. They are going to have to change their match plan massively for the next match as Bangladesh are showing signs of God-like ability. Bangladesh are hungry for dominance and an eight wicket victory against India is just pure perfection from the rising nation.
Islam 50* off 87 balls
End of Innings - Bangladesh 151/2 Nafees 86*
Islam 50*
Maniar 1-38
Kumble 1-40
Since I've taken over, I've won 4 and lost 3. I've won one of my last two games, losing the other one. I haven't got that stage just yet, but in the next few years, who knows.

After drawing the Test Series, both teams had high expectations for the One Day International series. The only team expected to achieve their high aims, was obviously India. However, they have struck an obstacle in their search for the series win as they lost the first One Day International match. This came as a surprise to all concerned in the match on India's team and their adoring fans. However, Bangladesh also flukely won the first Test match before losing it in the second Test match but will the same happen in this series?
India won the toss and elected to bat first in the first One Day match of the series. Sehwag and Jadhav were expected to get good scores individually and perform well together, with Tendulkar coming in to smash an unbeaten century. Well something like that. Unfortunately for the Indian players and fans, this didn't happen. 4 quick wickets saw Sehwag, Jadhav, Tendulkar and Dravid all get out to see India 71/4. The Bangladesh bowling was reminiscent of past legendary bowling attacks and looked flawless when in full swing.
Sehwag and Jadhav both failed to impress the spectators, with Sehwag being majorly disappointing with 7 off 18 balls. Jadhav's score of 20 was not too bad, as long as everyone else in the top order fired. Which didn't happen. Sachin Tendulkar, the Indian Talisman, came in and found himself in a predicament of a situation. Would he play his natural game or curve his ability to his team's surprising situation? He got caught deep in thought and found himself removed from the pitch for a nonchalant nineteen. Dravid ended the Test series ecstatically with a terrific 114*, but he couldn't rein act his heroic performance and skittled out for 9.
The middle order helped India on from 71/4 to 120/6. Laxman, Dhoni and Sharma led the way with some inspiring batting that if was shown by the top order, then perhaps India would be in a more consolidate position. Alas, they are not. The partnerships didn't fully flower and were abruptly ended by some more incredible and accurate bowling from Bangladesh. The lower order added a few tiresome runs as India's players look lack lustered, perhaps due to their invigorate training regime brought to them by their determined coach. Sharma and Singh's knocks were the only noteworthy knocks with Sharma amassing 18 runs whilst Singh was stranded on 16*. 149 all out was a sensational outing for Bangladesh but India, being the favourites, would be kicking themselves after playing like an Associate Nation.
Bangladesh's God-like bowling was witnessed by many and put many spectators in awe. Mortaza and Hasan led the attack with their illustrious bowling which in turn got them three wickets each. The pace department got 5 wickets whilst the spin department managed the same amount of wickets; showcasing an all round brilliant performance. No bowler left the match wicket less, with even all rounder Sadat picking up the important wicket of Sharma. Arafat Sunny was the most impressive bowler for Bangladesh, with his miraculous 2-24 off 10 overs; being the most economical. Mortaza however was not far off him in economical terms but in wicket terms, smashed him. 3-24 off 9.4 overs, including the wickets of Sehwag and Laxman, showed the world what we already knew. Mortaza is awesome.
It was then Bangladesh's turn to grasp the bat and parade out to the pitch, to discover what destiny had in store for them. Lady Luck looked to be on India's side at the beginning of the innings, however, as Javed Omar found himself back in the pavilion faster than he would of liked. The innings of Omar was brief, once again, and uneventful. His batting lacked a certain substance, which he will need to discover soon or his place as opener will be lost. 2 off 8 balls for a team that has done remarkably well to restrict India under 150, is just not good enough. Simple as.
Habibul Bashar then to the field in dramatic fashion; running as opposed to walking in the general fashion. His innings in recent time has been patchy if anything compared to his wonderful form at the start of the year. This match would not continue on his early form at the start of the year, albeit carrying on from the most recent form. Bashar was hoping to make a captain's knock to get Bangladesh back into the match after the early wicket and steady the ship but he only managed the opposite. 8 runs from 39 deliveries dampened Bangladesh's spirit and put their hopes of a win in jeopardy. 27/2 was not the particular way Bangladesh wanted to commence their innings.
Up steps Naeem Islam. After a dire Test performance from Islam, he would of been wishing and hoping for a change of form in this One Day International series. He started with some succulent strokes and played the ball over the park as the partnership with Shahriar Nafees soon started to escalate. The bowlers couldn't find the gap between bat and pad to unleash fury upon the wickets, nor could they get that inch to be in their favour when going for the edges. Lady Luck had changed; the pendulum now swung the other way.
Shahriar Nafees raced to his half century and beyond with the Bangladesh score going from strength to strength. Soon they only required a mere few runs and Islam chasing down his second half century in the shorter form of the game at International level. He managed to hit the winning runs and brought up his half century simutaneously. A truly magical partnership from Islam and Nafees won the match for Bangladesh rather easily in the end, getting a 8 wicket victory. Bangladesh have come from being underdogs once again and have astonished the cricketing world.
1-0 to Bangladesh in the One Day International series marks an inconceivable start. Bangladesh found a way to win one match against Australia, but soon found themselves at the wrong end of a 2-1 series. They have won the first match, however, this time and have a chance which they are unlikely to get again anytime soon, and that is to beat India in the ODI series. If Bangladesh can bowl and bat well however in the next match to take some decent form into the last match, even if they lose, then their extraordinary fans will create such a noise to act as a thirteenth man, in the series decider. I can see this going down to the wire.
