Batting loophole?

The penalty of not being able to nail short of a length deliveries into the back wall with a check drive off the front foot, for instance.

Yes it's pretty easy to do that. I also chip it to mid off and on about 50% of when I play that shot though. We need to wait until there are fielders.

The positioning of the fielders is irrelevant. The fact of the matter is that I hit 250 seaming deliveries on the trot, and I could have carried on should I have wanted to.
In fact, I played some of the shots with my eyes closed it was that easy. Perhaps Ross can have a look and see what he thinks?

It is pretty to easy to constantly hit deliveries that you know aren't going to deviate off the pitch with no pressure on you. Maybe it needs minor adjustments but I don't think it's a problem until we see it in greater context.

Maybe an all access one-day free demo for everyone here Ross, to sort out the debate? :p

Please don't get me wrong, I am not trying to pick holes in the game. I want to play proper shots to varying deliveries but you shouldn't be able to play one shot to any type of delivery, be it in the nets or on the pitch.
The only person who can clear up this debate is Ross (or another member of the RedAnt team) who has/have access to the full game.

You said the bowling machine was on random, have you tried to manually move it to varying line/lengths, can you still do it when the ball's wide outside off? The one thing I've noticed with the CA nets is the machine doesn't bowl much wide for cutting. It did on the othe betas but 9994 seems for more accurate.

I haven't played the nets a couple of weeks, but I tried to play that sort of shot to deliveries way outside off or very short when I hadn't yet got the hang of it and found that I usually missed or edged one in 5. Maybe it's just for the current update?

I haven't yet but I will give it a go tomorrow. I suspect the result will be the same because even deliveries wide of the off stump were being despatched square of the wicket on the on side.

Hopefully its due more to the nets rather than something that will happen out it the middle, as someone said with all the in game variables(pitch condition AI varying pace, fielders, swing etc) we may find you get out caught at short leg a lot.

Hopefully it will be just due to nets, but its a good thing to notify the powers that be.

@zombieian, Does it matter what skill level your batsman is or the bola machine is set to?

Have you tried the nets using this method?
I don't think a change of pace would make any difference.

You can't vary pace in nets, without of course changing the difficulty or bowling type, so if you do that you know the change of pace is coming. I'm talking about the bowler bowling an unexpected slower ball, which doesnt happen in nets because the machine bowls the same pace every delivery.

Its also nets; which means that you may be hitting the ball; but god knows if it would go to a fielder or not. Hopefully if the AI is sensible, it would pick up someone hitting shots to the same area and put a fielder there to cover it!

Thats okay, but its not the main problem. Its other thing that there will be various factors affecting in the actual match, but its other thing that you should not be able to play such *unrealistic* shots in first place.
I guess last part of this video, pretty much sums up the loophole OP is talking about.

As mentioned before, I am only talking about the ease at which I could rack up a score of 250+ by playing the same shot, in the same direction, off the back foot.
I don't believe that 'a surprise' slower ball would make any difference.
I know it is only in the nets without any fielders, but this can't be right, can it?
If you don't believe me please give it a go.

I disagree, if you play this particular shot a few times in a row to fast pace deliveries then I suddenly throw a slower ball yorker at you, I'de say you are more than likely going to play the shot too early and get caught in front of your stumps.

And plus if there is a mid-off/long-off, why would you keep playing the shot?
