An we are off in Semi Final number 1!!!

TT Lions v The Falcons (185286)

Welcome to The Lion Stands for the match between TT Lions and The Falcons.

We can tell you that TT Lions won the toss and elected to bat. The pitch is looking like a road. As flat as a pancake. No help for the bowlers today..

TT Lions have selected Cox, Delop, Lonergan, Crouch, Greenwood, Dennis, Jackman, Deane, Fallon, Atkinson, Drayton.

The Falcons have picked Ansari, Lister, Masood, Key, Ul-rehman, Doshi, Chanderpaul, Raeesuddin, Rafiullah, Henshaw, Wajihullah.

Lets join our team for ball-by-ball commentary.

A slow and solid start by the TT Lion openers:

End of Over 5: 22-0, runrate=4.40
Henshaw 3-0-14-0
Delop* 4 (13 balls)
Cox 18 (17 balls)

Cox looking pretty good:

4.6 6 Henshaw to Cox
The security guard has had to go into the car park to fetch the ball. One of the grandest sixes you will ever see!
4.5 4 Henshaw to Cox
Cox has picked that up from outside off stump! Top batting.

Cox in mighty fine form:

5.5 6 Raeesuddin to Cox
Charges down the pitch and unleashes a mighty blow - that one's gone all the way into the crowd. Six runs! That really does show some aggressive intent.

And Delop soon departs:

6.1 W Henshaw to Delop
The batsman was unlucky there! There was certainly a noise but replays suggested there was daylight between bat and ball; the sound was bat hitting pad.

Lonergan is the new man in, and faces out the rest of the over.

End of Over 7: 33-1, runrate=4.71
Henshaw 4-1-14-1
Cox* 25 (21 balls)
Lonergan 0 (5 balls)

Last Wicket: Delop c. Key b. Henshaw 8 (FOW: 33/1)

Cox continues his fine form:

8.4 4 Henshaw to Cox
Splits the off-side field with a delicious square cut. He will enjoy seeing that one again later.

And something the coach should look into:

9.1 lb4 Raeesuddin to Cox
Is Raeesuddin playing for the opposition?
I wish! :p

After ten overs, things aren't as bad as I though they would be :p

End of Over 10: 50-1, runrate=5.00
Raeesuddin 5-0-26-0
Cox* 33 (33 balls)
Lonergan 5 (11 balls)

Last Wicket: Delop c. Key b. Henshaw 8 (FOW: 33/1)

Lonergan opens up:

11.6 4 Raeesuddin to Lonergan
played past a diving wide mid on fielder for the boundary

More delightful strokeplay, really looks like a fine batting strip:

13.1 4 Raeesuddin to Cox
Raeesuddin overpitches, low full toss, stroked firmly back down the ground on the leg side, superb timing and it teases the chaser from mid on, into the rope.
12.5 3 Wajihullah to Cox
Cox pushes the ball onto the on side. Looks like a four but a dive in the outfield reduces it to three.

Lonergan displays his good strokeplay and Cox brings up a wonderful fifty:

16.4 4 Wajihullah to Lonergan
That one's disturbed the pigeons in the outfield. Four runs.
15.5 4 Raeesuddin to Cox
Textbook cover drive. Thats four.
And that's his fifty! Well played.
15.2 4 Raeesuddin to Lonergan
He's found the middle of the bat with that shot, four runs for Lonergan.

A pretty good start for the Lions:

End of Over 17: 95-1, runrate=5.59
Wajihullah 4-0-14-0
Cox* 52 (58 balls)
Lonergan 25 (30 balls)

Last Wicket: Delop c. Key b. Henshaw 8 (FOW: 33/1)

Cox looks very good:

18.5 4 Wajihullah to Cox
Short and on his hips, whipped away for a boundary.

And The Falcons U-19 Star Raeesuddin really has returned poor figures, suffering at the hands of Cox, and later Lonergan:

End of Over 20: 110-1, runrate=5.50
Raeesuddin 10-0-62-0
Cox* 63 (71 balls)
Lonergan 29 (35 balls)

Last Wicket: Delop c. Key b. Henshaw 8 (FOW: 33/1)

In a suprising move, it seems that Henshaw, Raeesuddin, Wajhullah, Lister and Rafiullah are the five bowlers, with Masood not getting a bowl! Are the Falcons really that confident?

Part timer Lister gets some treatment...
22.6 4 Lister to Lonergan
Too wide and cut away for four.

Lonergan brings up his fantastic fifty in style:

26.6 6 Lister to Lonergan
Lonergan steps forwards, plays a lovely drive, the ball zooming ever so slightly to the left with a trail of red fizzy stuff behind it. Hits the electronic scoreboard. It's flickering - oh no, it's broken! Panic over, power restored, and six runs added.
And that's his fifty! Well played.

After a slight drought, the runs are flowing again:

28.1 4 Lister to Lonergan
short, picked up to deep mid wicket for yet another boundary

And a timely breakthrough for The Falcons!

28.3 W Lister to Cox
The bowler and the crowd go wild, while Cox hangs his head in shame as the umpire raises his finger to a clear LBW.

Fine innings, was really hoping he would go on to get the big one.

New man in is allrounder Ryan Crouch, fresh off a blazing 178 in the last league match of the season.

A pretty respectable score after 30 overs.
End of Over 30: 157-2, runrate=5.23
Rafiullah 5-2-8-0
Crouch* 1 (1 balls)
Lonergan 58 (69 balls)

Last Wicket: Cox lbw b. Lister 69 (FOW: 155/2)

Crouch takes the attack to the bowlers, especially Henshaw...

32.2 4 Wajihullah to Crouch
Gently worked around the legs past mid wicket for the boundary.
31.3 3 Henshaw to Crouch
Three runs, a rarity on this small ground but very well run indeed.
31.2 4 Henshaw to Crouch
Overpitched outside off stump and that's an open invitation to Crouch to help himself, very nicely driven through cover, no need to run for that.
31.1 4 Henshaw to Crouch
Full delivery, picked up over the umpire and long on chasing in vain.

Unfortunately the TT Lions lose Crouch, who was batting beautifuly:

35.2 W Henshaw to Crouch
Crouch advances, but slips over and ever so slightly nicks the ball to Key. How unfortunate.

With the runs drying up, Greenwood takes a risk annndd....

38.4 6 Wajihullah to Greenwood
What a stunner! That one went all the way!

Finally it seems they are looking to pick up the run rate...

After 30 overs it isn't so bad, yet pretty poor considering how we started. How much can they accelerate in the last ten? Remember, Dennis is the next man in...

End of Over 40: 206-3, runrate=5.15
Henshaw 10-1-46-2
Lonergan* 69 (92 balls)
Greenwood 12 (17 balls)

Last Wicket: Crouch c. Key b. Henshaw 23 (FOW: 185/3)

Greenwood heads back to the pavillion...

42.1 W Lister to Greenwood
And that's out! Beautiful delivery, just a little movement away and a regulation caught behind for Key.

Arthur Dennis walks in. Hopefully he can stay in till the end.

Dennis is doing what he does best...

42.6 4 Lister to Dennis
Dennis has cracked one through the covers
42.5 4 Lister to Dennis
Big inside edge and that will run all the way down the hill for 4. Lister is pretty unlucky there

Lonergan joins the party...
43.3 4 Rafiullah to Lonergan
Over the bowlers head and just short of six.
43.1 4 Rafiullah to Lonergan
Did Raeesuddin touch the rope? The third umpire says four runs.

Oh crap, Masood is suppose to be bowling! Instead of Lister!
So it isn't overconfidence?

35 runs have come off the last 28 deliveries...

Lonergan is pent up an is ready to rip at the death:

45.1 6 Rafiullah to Lonergan
Wow! One wonders what the ball did to offend Lonergan, he smacked that with aggression and it ripped through the air for six.

The Wulfs are about as hard as a bot ;)

On the other hand, Lonergan is inching toward thriple figures:

45.5 4 Rafiullah to Lonergan
Lonergan just uses the pace of the ball to tickle it down to vacant fine leg region, four easy runs.

I know. Its gonna take a bit of luck for me to win this, even if I manage in excess of 300...

There it is!
46.1 1 Lister to Lonergan
Pushes away onto the onside, one run.
And that's a century for Lonergan! Well played indeed Sir!

Two wickets in two balls! Jackman and Dennis are gone...

46.6 W Lister to Jackman
sets off for a quick one, but it was never on... A quick throw removes the bails and he is stranded. Run out!
46.5 W Lister to Dennis
That's in the air and...... out! Raeesuddin won't get an easier catch all game.

Deane departs, keeper Fallon in. All they have to do is give Lonergan the strike, how hard can it be?

48.2 W Lister to Deane
GONE! Magnificent catch on the boundary.

And Fallon follows:

48.6 W Lister to Fallon
The bowler and the crowd go wild, while Fallon hangs his head in shame as the umpire raises his finger to a clear LBW.

But, Lonergan keeps up the fight:

48.4 6 Lister to Lonergan
An early birthday present for Lonergan. What looked like a relatively simple catch in the deep has been fumbled by Ansari, and the ball has gone over the rope for six runs.

And 12 off the final over means that the TT Lions score a decent 286/8, Lonergan with a fabulous 122 off 127 balls. The last ten overs yielded a crucial 80 runs!

End of Over 50: 286-8, runrate=5.72
Rafiullah 10-2-56-0
Atkinson* 1 (1 balls)
Lonergan 122 (127 balls)

Last Wicket: Fallon lbw b. Lister 1 (FOW: 274/8)

And the start of Innings 2. Drayton kicks of precedings with 3 off the over.
284 runs required off 294 balls with 10 wickets in hand.

From this point onwards you will recieve updates from the other manager in this match - Pak Cricketer

15 Over Update

Lister and Ansari are opening the innings..

1.4 4 Atkinson to Ansari
Exquisite cover drive, Ansari watched it onto the bat and it bisected the fielders perfectly.

2.5 4 Drayton to Lister
Carved away, wide of a lunging Cox. Lister really used the pace of the ball well there.
3.1 4 Atkinson to Ansari
Ansari picked that one up easily and it's raced to the boundary.

4.2 4 Drayton to Ansari
Loose delivery hoiked away to mid wicket.

10.2 6 Jackman to Lister
Now that is cafeteria bowling and Lister helped himself to six runs

Good shots from The Falcons..

12.1 W Jackman to Lister
Lister went for a cut shot off a short, wide delivery but played on to the stumps. A real bonus for Jackman!

But Lister fell early!

12.6 4 Jackman to Masood
poor ball on his legs, easily glanced away to the square leg boundary for four

Shots from Ansari the next Over!

13.3 1 Deane to Ansari
The batsmen scramble through for one run; if Jackman had hit the stumps directly Ansari would have been out.
13.2 4 Deane to Ansari
Exquisite placement! I could watch that shot all day.
13.1 4 Deane to Ansari
Drayton slips when picking the ball up and falls on the rope. Four runs!
End of Over 15: 82-1, runrate=5.47, reqrunrate=5.86 (286-8)
Jackman 3-0-15-1
Ansari* 42 (47 balls)
Masood 5 (9 balls)

Ansari and Masood have settled doen, I'll update If a wicket falls or I'll update it in 45 over mark as this game is very close!

End of Over 20: 125-1, runrate=6.25, reqrunrate=5.40 (286-8)
Deane 5-0-35-0
Masood* 33 (28 balls)
Ansari 50 (59 balls)

Noo... Masood Falls!

20.2 W Crouch to Masood
Picked up to deep square region, Drayton taking a brilliant catch as he throws his arms forward. Well done that man.

Key will come in, with Pressure all around him!

Ansari Falls!!!

28.5 W Crouch to Ansari
Through the gate the ball went, and to the pavilion Ansari headed. A great wicket taking delivery!

New man come in..
End of Over 29: 167-3, runrate=5.76, reqrunrate=5.71 (286-8)
Crouch 5-1-18-2
Key* 23 (23 balls)
Ul-rehman 0 (1 balls)

The Falcons look clear to win

End of Over 42: 269-3, runrate=6.40, reqrunrate=2.25 (286-8)
Crouch 6-1-30-2
Ul-rehman* 45 (45 balls)
Key 72 (57 balls)

The Falcons win!!!

The Falcons chased it down in just 44 overs thanks to brillent innings from Ul-Rehman on his debut and Key!

Deane and Drayton both bowled very poorly. I was expecting a lot more from the both of them. Dennis and Crouch also didn't live up with the bat. Bit of bad luck, took a risk with the field and batting/bowling orders, didn't pay off.
