So because of this mess I will have to declare @CerealKiller pick as void unless @Life Warrior makes a pick. Guys please co-operate as I may not be able to update the index every now and then. Please do ensure that the order is going in the right way or please do tag me once before making the pick if you have any doubt regarding it.
A wildly aggressive leg-spinner who loved flighting the ball and would generally deceive the batsman through his turn and loop in the air. In other words Amit Mishra followed the traditional norms of spin bowling. He actually belonged to the era when people were all praises for another leg-spinner who was India's best ever none other than Anil Kumble. Mishra always lived under the shadow of Kumble and Harbhajjan Singh but he always made his full use of the limited opportunites he got. He played Test Cricket on a regular basis for India between 2008 and 2011 but was later dropped for the pair of Ashwin and Jadeja who kept knocking down the opposition on rank turners and decent spinning pitches. He made a comeback to the Indian One-day squad during the 2013 Champions Trophy after impressing one and all in 2013 IPL knocking the selectors door that he still had enough of Cricket left in him. Although he did not get a match till the Indian side toured Zimbabwe with young Virat Kohli taking on the reigns for that tour back in 2013. Kohli backed Mishra to do well throughout the 5-match ODI series as he ended up being the highest wicket taker for the series along with a 6-fer to his name. He was once again dropped for Ashwin and Jadeja for the initial matches of the 7-match ODI series at home against Australia on flat dead tracks with batting dominating to an extent which made bowlers feel like useless but because India felt like being a bowler short Mishra was called back only for the worse to happen as he conceded close to 80 off his 10 overs. However he did make another comeback in the 2014 Asia Cup and once again turned out to be India's most economical and best wicket taking bowler for the tournament that followed. Later after having a wonderful WT20 he faltered in the knockouts struggling to control the flow of runs and was eventually dropped from the One-day squad as well. He once again made a Test comeback in 2015 and after enjoying a year's success made it to India's one-day squad in 2016 home series against New Zealand. He managed to take another 6-fer but was dropped for unknown reasons and never made a comeback. A spinner with a lot of potential went under-utilised but Mishra proved to be a great match winner in his limited opportunites for the Indian side.
