And the BetFred30 has come to a conclusion. We have seen big hitting, fast scoring and (very occasional) spells of top quality bowling. It's time to look back at the individual achievers that contributed to such a memorable season of cricket.
So, what has the season shown us? Several things that we know already, like the fact that Trescothick and Strauss are probably the best two batsmen in the country and that Stuart Broad can take bagfuls of wickets, just not very often. It has also taught us that trying to find a middle ground often compromises both sides of what you are trying to replicate, which is why the BetFred30 will be discontinued now that this season has finished. The season had neither the out and out fun of Twenty20 nor the ebb and flow of proper ODIs.
One thing that it did have though was tension, as the Superstars came from nowhere to win by point five-one of a run from the favourites. Still, the Grand Slam was more of a grand flop as the All*Stars won easily.
Thanks, though, to the four managers who made this league work. You'll all be welcome in my other league, the Canadian Premier League, should the spaces arise.
