Big Bash League - General Discussion

Missed the first half of the match today. How did the new rules play out?

I was trying to think of the ideal BBL team, and I think it'd look something like this:
  1. :aus: :bat: Matt Wade
  2. :aus: :bat: Jake Weatherald
  3. :aus: :bat: Callum Ferguson
  4. :aus: :bat: Jono Wells
  5. :eng: :ar: Samit Patel
  6. :sri: :ar: Wanindu Hasaranga
  7. :aus: :wk: Sam Harper
  8. :aus: :bwl: Chris Green
  9. :aus: :bwl: Josh Lalor
  10. :aus: :bwl: Ben Laughlin
  11. :aus: :bwl: Clint Hinchliffe
I think this ticks pretty much all the boxes for the perfect BBL team:

:tick: Absurdly top-heavy batting (Wade / Weatherald / Ferguson)
:tick: Build your franchise around a young leg-spinner (Hasaranga)
:tick: Some old international who's retired from everything else (Ferguson again)
:tick: A relatively no-name county pro masquerading as an overseas (Samit)
:tick: Local spinners from Grade cricket (Green, Hinchliffe)
:tick: Ben Laughlin
:tick: Don't bother giving Trent Copeland a go in the Big Bash, even though he'd be very good at it

It'd also actually be a good team too, which is a bonus.

What a match did we have today! Boy what an innings that was from Daniel Hughes. Also, absolute shit captaincy from Maxi to go for the last over himself.

Hales should consider switching over to represent USA, man's too good to not play international cricket again.

USA?

I don't see any other country that is as ambitious about growing their brand of cricket and also allows benefits of missing out on their games plus registering as a local in the county circuit. If things work out, Hales could be one of the early heroes of a revived USA cricket side in the future.

Pretty disappointed that Nida Dar didn't get picked for the WBBL.
