England fail with the bat again
ENGLAND FAIL WITH THE BAT AGAIN
England have failed to score more than one hundred AGAIN in their latest BLIC 2005 League match at the Brit Oval.
The innings started well with Trescothick scoring eight runs from the first over, but a total collapse saw the Lions fall to eight for four at one stage.
Gritty innings from wicketkeeper Geraint Jones and Warwickshire Bears spin bowler, Alex Loudon, omitted to replace the ill Shaul Udal, saw a mini-revival.
Loudon scored an unbeaten twenty-one, which almost guarantees him another place in the team, whether or not Udal recovers.
Loudon was only success
The night has fallen at the Brit Oval, leaving New Zealand all twenty overs to score just sixty-three runs.
Shan Bond took two wickets without conceding any runs, a sure fire success for the Black Caps.
Paceman Bond was lethal
"We didn't look confident," said team manager Lee Payne.
", the batsman were not comfortable and that is a real worry. Our bowlers are good, but they have nothing to defend."
England must bat better against Canada
The team is flying to Kenya after the match to take on Canada in a 'severe batting practice' warm-up match at Nairobi.
