I've finally had a email conversation with the producer of BLIC over bug fixes, glitches, design decisions and everything else brought up by the 'Demo Bug' thread. Sorry it can't be more in-depth than the overview below, but we both wanted to get this reply up on the forum as we don't like to keep you all waiting too long!
So, let's get on with it:
Primarily, looking at some of things flagged up as bugs via the Planet Cricket link - they're not all bugs, as I've mentioned previously. Not all are design decisions, but they were made this way to make sure the game work as well as possible. Such as the wides - this is a design decision. As far as the rules and ICC tell us they are virtually correct, save the allowance for more decent gameplay. These will not be changed in this version of the game. So please bear that in mind - personal/group preference for some other option/idea does not mean that because we've done it a different way it's a bug. We have to cater for all gamers, not just the hardcore.
SOME OF THE OTHER BUGS FLAGGED UP:
The 'fielders bumping into each other' has not been seen in testing for a long time now so rest easy with that one.
The No Balls are better.
Running around the wicket (and spots on the pitch) have been dealt with.
Other things like the speed of the ball being bowled, and bat and ball collision, are much better now and he believes they are the best he's ever seen in a cricket game.
Other rules and gameplay refinements - lots of them, and too many to say about here (simply because we didn't have time to discuss them and they should be more implicit than explicit - they should just make for a more-rounded experience).
----
Of course by putting this up we're opening ourselves up to abuse from the forums if/when problems appear with the launch version - but we have been listening to you and we're happy that you've flagged up some of the same things we have.
But please, no asking "is this still in the game" or "has this been fixed?" because sadly I don't know on the specifics - I don't work for QA so I don't know!
Finally, however, I hope this helps you all to see we do want the best game we can produce and we're really looking forward to the launch of the game next week. And yes, these comments apply to all three formats of the game - PS2, Xbox and PC.
