Border-Gavaskar Trophy (India in Australia) Dec-Jan 2011/12

Unlike the Aussie attack, led by the mighty Peter Siddle Could be an absolute run fest this summer if the pitches are flat and the batsmen play sensibly.

By this series I'm hoping Cummins, Harris, 3rd seamer (best bowler from NZ series) is our attack.

Just echoing what sifter said here. Ishant bowled in the high 130s during the England series but where did that get him? Praveen has done nothing wrong to be dropped. Once he does, a debate can arise but he has proven his worth to remain in the team for now. He was our best bowler in a series in which we got absolutely mauled. Aaron and Yadav have potential but have to be eased in. We can't just expose them like that because if they do badly, it will be a huge blow to their self-esteem before their career even gets going.

With Praveen out, that debate is over now. Interested to see who the 5th seamer will be. I am willing to bet it will be Sreesanth, but I hope they pick Irfan Pathan. I know, I know... he hasn't been anywhere near his best in recent years. But his current Ranji stats are promising, and I will always hold hope that he returns to his old self.

I think it should and probably will be Vinay Kumar. His FC stats are terrific. Don't know why he gets picked in the shorter formats though.

Oh god I hope not. Vinay Kumar would get absolutely caned in Australia. He is a first rate trundler IMO. I'm personally not a fan.

I doubt it will matter unless we have some serious injury scares. Last time around we took Pankaj Singh iirc and he basically got a vacation down under. We can't afford to have passangers in the squad though. I remember we had injury problems in South Africa and were forced to play Saha as a batsman and Jaidev Unadkat as our third seamer... that didn't go too well.

Should? If it were upto me, he would be nowhere near the test team. He would get thwarted. Isn't fast, isn't accurate, isn't a big mover of the ball and loses his head far too easily. Just isn't good enough to make the jump up to Test Cricket.

But what other Indian pacer has better stats than him? I am picking him based on stats.

There are certain anomalies in domestic cricket. Look no further than Joginder Sharma's stats.

As I said I would love to see Irfan back in the side but if he is not then I would pick Nehra :p

What say? He is fit playing domestic and experience of him could come handy

Your wish has come true. Praveen Kumar is out of the Australian series due to injury.

Haha:lol:lol:lol.Kumar's got fractured ribs that'll take him 5-6 weeks to recover. No way will he play in the Australia series.!!!!!.That gives either Yadav or Aaron to be in the XI unless the Indian selectors take a bad decision to make Ojha play. For me it should be Aaron in the XI.All his wickets so far have been bowled and he's broken Courtney Walsh's record of 5 initial wickets in his career as bowled. He's much quicker than Yadav also.

Pace is not the only thing you look. Look at Nannes where is he now? Nowhere!

My lineup if Zak fit would be

Virender Sehwag
Gautam Gambhir
Rahul Dravid
Sachin Tendulkar
VVS Laxman
Virat Kohli/Ajinkya Rahane? What say?
MS Dhoni
Ravi Ashwin
Zaheer Khan
Umesh Yadav
Ishant Sharma

Umesh Yadav is also fine.He bowls a more accurate line and length than Aaron. And Nannes is an old fella aged 34/35.Aussies now have Cummins who can bowl fast/line nd length and can bat a bit too.Doesn't he too have pace?

neither Kohli or Rahane, it should be ROHIT. he is far more talented then all of these guys.
According To Rameez Raja he is the best young batsman in the world and specially in playing fast bowling.
Mark Boucher once said that he has never seen Any batsman other than Rohit who has so much time to play Dale Steyn.
In 2010 when he was going to debut against SA in nagpur, but got injured.

:facepalm Just one extremely good innings under pressure from Sharma, and off you go! You do realize that Kohli's in the form of his life, right?

Pujara = Kohli >>>>> Rohit > Yuvraj > Raina for me as far as India's #6 slot is concerned.

Pathan should definitely be the front runner to replace PK. He has already taken 4 wickets in the on going Ranji tie against Delhi.
