Border-Gavaskar Trophy (India in Australia) Dec-Jan 2011/12

:facepalm Just one extremely good innings under pressure from Sharma, and off you go! You do realize that Kohli's in the form of his life, right?

Pujara = Kohli >>>>> Rohit > Yuvraj > Raina for me as far as India's #6 slot is concerned.

:facepalm

i am not backing rohit on basis of yesterday innings. it was ODI match not a test match. :noway
just go and open India VS WI Thread. Before first TEST MATCH started between India VS WI, from that point i am saying rohit should be given chance ahead of Kohli, Yuvraj or anyone else.

Rohit sharma averages 63 in Domestic Cricket and still to get a chance in TEST cricket.

When Kohli failed in WI, he admitted that he is not ready for test cricket now after 4-6 months he is ready to play test cricket. :lol

For Me.

Ganguly -> Kohli
Dravid -> Pujara
Sachin -> Rohit
Laxman -> ?

For ODI Cricket,
We have a factory of Batsman.

Rohit is definately better than Kohli IMO. I know Rohit has got much more chances than Virat and he failed many times but when he is in good form he is a treat to watch. He has much better technique and footwork than Virat. He looks good against short pitch deliveries. I like Kohli,too but when it comes to comparing Virat and Rohit. I would definitely choose Sharma. But I also agree that currently Virat should bat at no 6 as he should get some chances to prove his quality in test cricket.

True. I wonder what the heck happened to Pujara who was supposed to play a few domestic games to prove his match fitness? Did the selectors ignore him for this tour?

That 5-fer should do him no harm. He wont be a bad choice IMO.

Zak bowls 22 overs in 2 innings picking 4 wickets not bad! Irfan Pathan picks 7 wicket not bad too. Wish selectors have an eye on him

He did not have anything to bowl at, Orissa were bowled out for 98 in first innings and 119/8 in second and ending 160 odd for 8

Still, its not really definitive proof that he's back. Would have probably been better for him if he'd of had an extremely flat pitch to really prove himself to the Indian selectors as they've said they won't take him if he can't show his fitness.

I genuinely believe that him bowling 50 odd overs, with no discomfort post match, would have been better for him regardless of wickets.

Agree to some extent but he has one more match after this may be he can bowl more in that match :)

Have the selectors made a decision regarding Praveen's replacement? I am guessing it should be one of either Sreesanth or Irfan Pathan. Both are on the wane, but both still have promise left. I would pick Sreesanth more for his seam movement, bounce and better pace which can be helpful in Australia. But Irfan wont be a bad choice at all. His batting can also help. With Ashwin and Zaheer also capable of holding their bat, our batting order will go down really deep if Irfan is played (even Ishant can stick it out with the bat for sometime).

I think they are taking a decision on 5th. Most likely they are waiting to see if Zaheer needs to be replaced as well.

Yupp they are announcing replacement on 5th December. I would say contenders are RP Singh, Sreesanth, Abhimanyu Mithun, Irfan Pathan and Vinay Kumar. Even though I would never like to see Abhimanyu Mithun and Vinay Kumar in the squad but still they are very strong contenders for making into the squad.

Irfan is the top contender, he is the highest wicket taker at the moment in Ranji trophy, and he did well last in Australia last time, don't think anyone comes close to him considering the current form and his usefulness with the bat.
