Border-Gavaskar Trophy (India in Australia) Dec-Jan 2011/12

True. Kohli seems a good No. 4

Well anywhere except #3 I would say. He has shown that he can adapt to conditions that aren't familiar to him even better then the players who have played here a few times before. Still a long way for him to go but this has been a good start to his test career.
I just hope he doesn't get thrown into the #3 position.

Let's see if the Warner show can kick off and save us from crumbling for under 100. Can see why Clarke didn't enforce the follow-on, just hope it goes as planned.

Finally a century from an Indian batsman. Felt like rain after drought.

There are way better batsmen who can be a good #3 batsmen for India to be honest but selectors for some reason aren't picking them. Cheteshwar Pujara is a good solid player and you can say is a bit more like Dravid with a bit more aggressive (than Dravid).

Selectors and even team management for a long time now have been taking some dubious decision like leaving Irfan Pathan out of the test series, not taking Pujara and Rohit Sharma in the squad and final XI respectively and giving more chances to players of South India.

I'd like to see how Irfan and Rohit performs in ODI series. Pujara who has been extremely consistent should have easily made it to the team on any other day but this selection committee led by Kris Srikkanth...

But how many would you be willing to play as #3 from the start in test cricket.
There is Rahane and Mukund who could open or slot in at #3. If the selectors do decide to move Sehwag then one of them will have to open.
Pujara or Rohit should come in for Laxman, Rohit before Pujara IMO.

Great knock by Kohli! But did he have to spoil it again as he always does by uttering "Maderc**d" (which means motherf****r) once he reached his ton? Anyways seems like he is so much in love with that word and he utters it to some unknown person just to make himself feel better. Very well played knock. His test graph has been going upwards in the last 3 innings, and hope it continues that way.

Was funny seeing Ricky Ponting take Sachin Tendulkar's job of calming these young boys (Kohli and Ishant) down. The funny thing is, Ponting was pulling them off when they were talking against his own team men. Good one that, Ricky! After all these years, you have also learnt some good things.:p:lol

Yes, exactly, Rohit should bat where Laxman bats and Pujara can take Dravid's spot. Pujara is pretty used to bat at that position.

Sehwag, the other day suggested he would bat in middle order so he can take Sachin's spot but I don't think its a good idea.

Perhaps, my line-up sans these batting greats would be:

Gautam Gambhir
Virender Sehwag
Cheteshwar Pujara
Virat Kohli
Rohit Sharma
??????
MS Dhoni/Dinesh Karthik/Parthiv Patel
Irfan Pathan
R.Ashwin/Harbhajan
Praveen Kumar
Zaheer Khan

S.Badrinath haven't lived upto the expectations as a good batsman considering he scores tons of runs in domestic cricket otherwise he would have been a great addition to the team

Thats the only thing I don't like about Kohli. Much abusive and seemingly pretty egoistic guy. He should rather try and do his job like the Kiwis or senior Indian players like Dravid or Laxman do.

Sehwag in the middle order or SEHWAG OUT OF THE TEAAAAMMMMMM!!!! Enough of him we have had. Even his once in a blue moon innings at the top has stopped coming now overseas. Slot him in the middle to see if he works, or get a better player to replace him. Anyways he was not a specialist opener to start with, and we have some youngsters who are specialist openers who can be given the chance.

Badri is over! No point in wasting time on him. Let him play domestic, IPL, etc and retire. He anyway gets big money from IPL. His domestic form too has tapered off now.

I guess Australia are under instructions to take the game into the fifth day.:D If I were Clarke, I would have enforced follow-on. No point wasting time in batting again.

Yes. then we have Sehwag at the unclaimed middle order spot in the line-up I showed and Mukund and/or Rahane looks good enough to try them as openers as of now.

Yes, seems so. There were reports of CA losing fortunes for matches not going till the 5th or even 4th day for that matter. :p

Top knock by Kohli. Has shown some nice spite throughout the series.
