Border-Gavaskar Trophy (India in Australia) Dec-Jan 2011/12

In general, Watson has problems with weight transfer. When he doesn't get forward enough, then the lbws come into play and I would say it doesn't matter if it's early on, just as long as you get the ball to move at some point, but he's evidently more aware of then need to get forward than many of Australia's batsmen. Sometimes however, he gets forward awkwardly and ends up leaning back, leading to some of his looser shots.

I don't know if Marsh was ever a hugely realistic chance for the tour game, maybe being that they are very short and he will be able to have a hit and take it easy. Nevertheless he has a prolapsed disc. It's not like with a hamstring where you can make a seemingly miraculous recovery by shortening your stride, it's just going to be there, causing pain until it's healed. It should always have been about the six weeks. I guess it looks bad if he's only barely fit for Boxing Day, but it is what it is.

He he, just checked out the rankings predictor.

Ind lose 2-1/1-0 -> lose 4 points to settle with 114.
Ind win 2-1/1-0 -> gain one point to settle with 119.
Drawn series -> lose one point to settle with 117.

On the other hand, even if England lose 1-0/2-1 to pak, they lose 5 points to settle with 120. Yay!

Btw, Australia are currently stranded with only 103 points, which is why a bad series result for India could cost them dearly.

India is gonna win 3-0!

And Cricinfo is saying Shaun Marsh is out of the 2nd tour warmup matches, Ed Cowan replaces. Not looking good for Marsh for Boxing Day

Cowan was named captain of the Chairman's XI to play India as a warm-up.

A fantastic chance to bat himself into the test team. But he was forced to pull out by his T20 team.

Aussie batting sucks, but Indian bowling sucks even more so I reckon we'll see a lot of these guys getting back into form and Australia scoring plenty of 400+ scores.

That said, I think on these pitches against these bowlers I back our batsmen to score big too. Thankfully there are no injuries (so far) on the batting front. If our first XI stay fit, they could be the best XI India have put forward for many years.

Sehwag
Gambhir
Dravid
Tendulkar
Laxman
Kohli
Dhoni
Ashwin
Zaheer Khan
Ishant Sharma
U Yadav

Not bad on paper. Not bad...

Why just not bad? I'd say, its more than enough for the present day Aussie team!
But I'd love to see a name, which reminds all the Aussies that its time to eat Bhajji's in pavilion, so that they could just go out.

As for the Border comments, obviously his opinion however Ponting, Hussey to stay: Arthur | Cricket | Fox Sports

Fox Sports said:
Arthur revealed an exit plan for the veterans had not even been discussed, despite widespread speculation about an overhaul of the batting order.

"We haven't even come to any thought of how we manage any exit for any of those players," he said.

Well, that's great news :facepalm Ponting has always said he wanted to play on for the India series, so I thought okay, we just have to carry him until then. If he's not planning on retiring after this series, then just drop him now FFS.
I'm still hopeful that he comes out and announces that he will retire after this series before the Boxing Day test. At least then everyone will get behind him and if he scores runs he can go out on a bang.

I was looking forward to Marsh's return, but if his injury keeps the door open for Khawaja, I'll be pretty happy. I have a good feeling about Khawaja making his breakthrough this series and scoring tonnes of runs. Home series, India, ???? bowling attack.. Great recipe for him.

Aah without the two "great friends" -one each from both teams- not playing, this series won't be like any other recent Australia vs. India series. Man, they have been the face of the series for quite some time now.

We should be prepared not to play Harris and Marsh, since there's every chance they'll be crocked. That probably means Khawaja keeps his spot for another couple of Tests - but who replaces Starc? Looking at the tour games, seems pretty clear that the selectors have Bollinger or Copeland in mind.

If Hazlewood had repeated his SCG performance at Manuka Oval, you'd have to wonder whether he'd be about to receive his baggy green.

----------

Not saying that Hazlewood is ready for Test cricket, mind. But if they gave Starc a go, then Josh can't be far off.

Ye will if Marsh and Harris dont make it, then Khawaja and Bollinger should play instead.

----------

One more injury and I'm done: Harris | Cricket | Fox Sports

End is nigh for Harris then, I would be surprised if he can make it to the Ashes without an injury.

Yea well post the 2010/11 Ashes failure, making Harris the main new-ball bowler was always going to be a risk given his injury record, but at the time AUS had no choice given that the other fast-bowlers were not stepping up.

But currently I think with the emergence of Cummins/Pattinson, Siddle's revival and Bollinger still around, I think tentatively AUS can breathe easier even if Harris days as a test bowler are over before the IND series is done.

It could be a blessing in disguise for the T20 side looking ahead to the world cup in Sri Lanka, since he certainly going to be able to bowl 4 overs without much stress.

Well, with England being No 1 we are bound to hear few things. If this would have been said by us (anything racist) we would have seen many ban's coming. But seeing he has apologized its no issue. Also if he would'nt have it was no issue because we have been forgiving anything and everything.

Back on the series, its really going to be fascinating to watch both teams who have recently hit low. Last time around, it was Australian dominance vs India upcoming side. Australian ego was hurt that time after Sydney gate and their downfall was on card. They lost the Perth test, drawn on a road and lost VB series. From that time they havent won a single series against India on away conditions yet.

Australian side is truly in transition period W.R to its Openers and bowlers. Their middle order is pretty much the same as the last series except for Symonds.

Indian side is pretty much the same in batting except Jaffer replaced by Gambhir. India should be having that killer instinct
