Border-Gavaskar Trophy (India in Australia) Dec-Jan 2011/12

ATM that seems unlikely. Johnson currently has fallen behind Bollinger/Harris/Copeland/Siddle in AUS test bowling pecking order & i'd be surprised unless something miraculous occurs, if he plays in any of the tests when IND arrive in AUS.

Haha - I think you are talking about YOUR pecking order :thumbs There's no way Johnson is the 5th best fast bowler in the selectors minds. He would be 2nd at worst (behind Harris).

No doubt he will get a run in SA but if he can't fire there, the scene of his best bowling series then it's time to cut our loses.

It seems so easy now to blame BCCI for manipulating the playing grounds in countries where they tour. Isnt it the prerogative of the CA to decide the grounds for their respective home series? I dont think the BCCI has become that powerful to dictate where they want to play when they tour, and I dont think they will become that powerful.

And the last time we played a test at Brisbane, Ganguly scored a famous century and we did pretty well in that test.

It seems like a fashion for everyone and everything to be blamed for BCCI. People forget that the biggest stake holder in all this are the broadcasters. They pay so much money. Last time when Indian threatened to leave ESPN threatened Aus board and acc. to leaks they might have been in debt for years because of that. I think more than BCCI it is the broadcasters who make the call on the grounds (make sure game goes 4-5 days) and match timings (remember the T20s in West Indies was a 9'0 clock start, the NZ matches started a bit late around 10 am). BCCI does not earn lot from away tours. Blame the home board and broadcasters.

England produced good and challenging pitches during our recent disastrous tour. Australia are more than capable of doing that, and they dont need to be bowed down to the BCCI and produce batting pitches. If they do produce batting wickets, it means they have a problem producing challenging pitches.

Sub-continent Teams have always found it very difficult to play in Australian tracks, maybe that's most because of the kind of tracks and also a psychological problem but the issue has been there ever since I have seen Cricket atleast.

Australia has always been most favorite in their home grounds compare to any other cricket playing nation. I remember the days of Mcgrath, Shane Warne and Bret Lee when those bowlers used to make the life of good batsmen as hell as possible.

Looking forward for the series now.......... with all new teams. :)

BCCI does control World Cricket to a large extent today. I won't be surprised, if in this particular series, the board decides to come up with something new.

As for the broadcasters, yes, they pay so much money-agreed, but for them to call the shots is a bit ridiculous. Say before applying for rights in WI and NZL, they ought to check if the match timings suit everyone or not.

Again, if Australia and England can produce challenging wickets on which their bowlers can totally dominate the Indians, why can't India produce spinning tracks for them ?

They have been doing it from last 10 years now. lol

I meant, keep a couple of grounds as dustbowls. Then the Aussies and English will whinge and cry after playing on such grounds. If they can have Perth and Leeds, we can also have say a Kanpur / Ferozshah Kotla. Why not ?

Of course, why not? But we got to improve our domestic pitches and try to keep them as lively and fast as possible so that our domestic batsmen improve to face tough conditions overseas.

Yes this is the point but I don't think they will ever do that. If they create fast and lively pitch for domestic cricket then more player will want to become fast bowler and we will have more fast bowlers than what we are having currently.

Johnson seriously needs to run back to Domestic cricket and get himself a bit of training. That boy's bowling filth as usual & he compares himself to Anderson :facepalm

India in Australia 2011-12: India to play two tour matches ahead of Australia Tests | Cricket News | Australia v India | ESPN Cricinfo

Man what the hell!! Dividing a 4 day game into two 2 days is ridiculous!! They should have gone earlier and added one more 4 day game. But I assume Indians can get through to Australian Climate then English :p

Money speaks... Basically, they are playing a full fledged 5 day test as a warmup game (the 5 days has been divided into 2 and 3 to accomodate two warmup games). Whats the use in playing the same opposition? What practice it gives?

well with 2 warmup game india can only test out fitness of player and Form will be tested out in First Test.

Agree with Ganguly who says Dhoni should be rested for the West Indies series so that he is fresh and ready for Australia. IMO, he should be rested and also he should be asked to play a few domestic games (to test match fitness) just before the team leaves for Australia. If he doesn't play, he doesn't go.
