Border-Gavaskar Trophy (India in Australia) Dec-Jan 2011/12

Today it was a quiet good day for fast bowlers , both teams played well at last experience mattered for Australian batting card's , hope tomorrow will be even more exciting morning secession :thumbs

Sehwag has been sleeping for a long time then :rolleyes

No weak-links? I think it's more to do with the Australian batsmen not being in top form.

He is right. This is the first time this bowling attack is bowling together. Ishant, Yadav and Ashwin have played together, but the presence of Zaheer Khan brings back the bowling attack into full flow and covers up the weakness. Thats why we all said that India can win matches if Zaheer is fit enough to play.

It does look the best bowling attack India have had in recent times but than again whenever Zaheer is there, other two bowlers perform really well. And which weak link did you see in the bowling?

We have to get them out under 200. Hussey is looking really dangerous though.

I wish Dravid hadn't dropped that dolly off Hussey. Ashwin after so much of toil and great persistence finally beat Hussey so beautifully in the flight only for Dravid to mess up what for his standards was a 'sitter'. I seriously hope it doesnt bite us in the back later. For a batsman of Hussey's class (and it seems some Aussie selectors are showing signs of unscrewed minds by putting him on the firing line), you can't give him such reprieves.

This has been a tremendous match to kick start this series. Applauds to groundsmen for preparing such a beauty! Saw each day's play till now. I am glad this series is on. Missed such Cricketing action so much! It is very even, I must say. Lead of above 250 or thereabouts and India have to bat well to get the target. It isn't going to be easy.

One of the commentators said that Victoria had chased 400 odd runs in a recent Sheffield match to win in this ground. And the commentators kept repeatedly saying that the wicket is still good for batting and is not breaking up big time or is not impossible to bat on, and its just that some ordinary shots and some good bowling have contributed to so many wickets on Day 3. I still feel Australia need 300+ to hard. If India can keep them to 250, we should be able to chase it unless we decide to screw up badly.

Really excited for today. Will watch every ball! Important day which will tell who is winning the first test. For a change the slow starters INDIA have done well to be in match. Umesh Yadav you beauty, wish Varun Aaron was there in OZ just for gaining experience and learning under Zaheer :yes

Yeah Yadav looks impressive, glad the commentators pointed out his wrist action. Reminds me a bit of a West Indian fast bowler the way he comes in and uses the wrist - I can't think of which one it is - I think there's a bit of Ambrose, maybe Merv Dillon in there. It'll come to me :p

I think maybe 280 would make it a close match, anything over I'd probably bet on Australia, anything under would be hard to defend against India's strong batting lineup. Then again Sehwag's 2nd innings performances are generally poor, Gambhir and Laxman looked rusty. You never know what Dhoni's going to bring - the chinks in the lineup are there if Australia keeps bowling well.

And what's going on Australia - 3 inside edges back onto the stumps??? At least we got a bit of luck with Dravid being asleep at first slip, but it seems like the gods are with India a little more in this match thus far. Note I said a little, I know Ponting and Hussey could have been LBW yesterday...

.
chase of 260ish I reckon. I'd bring kohli up the order, a la pujara back in 2010. he can play the role of a 3 and it lets him come in and play his shots rather than having to stress about being the last man in before the tail should he be needed.

you'd far rather have laxman and the bowlers guiding the end of a tricky case than kohli.

I actually like this idea a lot :thumbs

VVS Laxman failed another time in an away match today. His overseas record this year has been quite poor.:facepalm
From 'Very Very Special' Laxman he has now become 'Very Very Stupid' Laxman!!!!!

Bit early to be calling him that I'd say. Look at his record after the series finishes.

Just checked up on Star Cricket. Where is Harsha Bhogle ? Jason de la Pena just ain't in the same league as him.

He was in the Channel Nine box at tea discussing some historical Aus-India Tests. I haven't had the chance to hear him yet, but I assume he's on ABC radio here in Australia - he's always liked working with the ABC so I'm guessing he locked that in rather than do the Star stuff.

And you are sounding very very stupid and idiotic too. Give that man a break, I am sure you will be no where seen in the forums when he will play good and there wont be many praising him.

Agree to Stinky's idea of sending Kohli up the order. We can have a sold middle order then with Dravid,Tendiya,Laxxie in 4,5,6 spot.

I am not very confident about sending in Kohli when the ball is pretty new. If Sehwag or Gambhir get out early, Dravid is the best guy to come out and restrict further damage. I would bring in Kohli at No.5 (after Tendulkar; before Laxman). Stinky was comparing this move with the one of sending Pujara up the order in 2010. But Pujara played that innings in Indian conditions, and also I feel he is a more technically solid guy than Kohli even if it was Australian conditions.

Ponting two 60s this game have ensured he won't be dropped this series and will silence his critics at least for a short while, but he (along with Tendulkar of course) needs a hundred before something resembling a sense of normality is restored.

That was a great shot from Pattinson :eek

He can really bat :facepalm

Hussey is in credit with BCCI now :p He sure is suspect to that LBW and also he wouldn't make a good poker player, the C9 commentators have pointed that he looks for a single when he is out.

And Hussey survives plumb LBW.

Oh lord and now that was a catch. It touched his bat Erasmus.
