Budget Draft: Bargain Hunt

Feel bad about shoving him at 4 but all the options are openers. Think Nick will be better there than Phil, Gooch or Bill Athey

1. Gooch
2. PJ Hughes
3. Steve James
4. Nick Knight (3 pts 0 remaining)
5. Fairbrother
6. B. Hollioake
7. Foster
8. Gibson
9, Lasith Malinga
10. Anderson
11. Tufnell

Also, I missed this previously, but you've hunted an unbelievable bargain.

Hearne racked up 37,252 first-class runs @ 40.98 (96 centuries, best 285*) and 1,839 first-class wickets @ 24.42 (107 5WI, best 9/61). Either of those statlines on their own would make a player a borderline automatic selection in this draft.
He’s been in the plans since the very beginning but it was clear early on that people weren’t really picking players from this era too often and he wasn’t free so I felt he could easily sneak under the radar until the back end of the draft

:saf: :ar: Ossie Dawson

293 runs @ 20.92 (best 55) and 10 wickets @ 57.80 (best 2/57) in 9 Test matches
3,804 runs @ 34.58 (6 centuries, best 182) and 123 wickets @ 27.86 (3 5WI, best 5/42) in 75 first-class matches

A muscular all-rounder who was a part of some of the first post-WWII South African teams, Ossie Dawson was a good enough player to bat in the top five and open the bowling in Test cricket. His bowling was accurate rather than fast, and his batting was at times impulsive; in other words, I've essentially picked a second Abdul Razzaq to go with the first. As a pair, they will both be expected to play explosive innings while Wight and others play in a more restrained fashion, and will both be part of the four-man seam attack that ensures this team can handle any conditions thrown at them.

right then, have been putting off these last 2 picks for a while, should probably get it over with

Alec Stewart was famously a much better bat when not keeping, so to take the load off him I'll go with :ind: Wriddhiman Saha for 9 points

i have 21 points left, which i will use to snag :nzf: Stephen Fleming because i cannot be bothered researching for a good allrounder to somehwhat supplement my weak bowling attack

:eng: :bat: Zak Crawley (12)
:eng: :wkb: Alec Stewart (20)
:aus: :bat: Meg Lanning (11)
:nzf: :bat: Stephen Fleming (20)
:ind: :bat: Hrishikesh Kanitkar (0)
:aus: :bat: Jack Badcock (0)
:ind: :wk: Wriddhiman Saha (9)
:eng: :ar: Jack Mason (0)
:nzf: :bwl: Ish Sodhi (8)
:ban: :bwl: Mashrafe Mortaza (8)
:ban: :bwl: Taskin Ahmed (11)

more than decent batting, not so good bowling is my verdict for this XI
