Tendulkar is likely to do it. But what about Ponting? He currently has 68 international tons, needs 32 more. Please cast your vote on the issue.

4 years to go, 7 Test centuries is his max per year, that will make 28. Maybe add on 3 ODI centuries a year aswell, that will make 40.

He needs to be in the best form of his life to even get close.

You really think he'll play for another 4 years? He'll be 40 by then.

I'd be very surprised. As fantastic a player as Ponting is, he is definitely on his way out. Another 32 tons is a big ask.

Only one who has a chance for getting this record is Sachin Tendulkar. No one else!
32 centuries maximum of two years is impossible1

No way. 32 tons is A LOT. Plus the new Ponting is nowhere near as dominant as the old one was.

Ponting is great and all, but Its too much to ask from him, unless He plans not to reture until he wins the Ashes in England

Don't really think so. Thiry-two centuries is asking too much from a guy who is already in his late 30s, and will probably play for just two more years.

extremely unlikely, realistically he can play another 4 years max , so that would be 8 a year he needs. He's only achieved more than 8 tons a year 3 times in his entire career so he would need to bat at his absolute best from now until he was 40. If you were going to give him any chance he'd have to be in top form over the ashes and the world cup, he could possibly tally up another 15 tons due to the amount of matches but I wouldn't bank on it given his form.

the 4 years thing is being generous too, tendulkar is worshipped in india and would need to be awful for a long time to get dropped, and they do not have so many obvious successors pushing for a place, but australia is harsher and wouldn't let him carry on if his form looked to have gone, they also have too many good reserves that would take his berth.

No but so what? 100 is just an arbitrary number, he is still a better Test batsman than Tendulkar
