Career Mode - Most Realistic Selection Difficulty?

Hi everyone,

With the PC release on its way, I'm looking forward to getting stuck in to yet another cricketing career with the new game, but I wondered if anyone had any experience with the different selection difficulties and how that affects your game? On DBC 17 I remember just having everything on normal, and getting called up to domestic level as soon as I hit a few 30s a couple of years in, which definitely seemed overly generous. I've seen other people in the main career thread though saying that they've still got no chance of being called up on the new game even if they're doing fairly well after a few years.

Has there been much of a change since the last game, or is that kind of scenario reserved for the hardest selection difficulty. I know I found the DBC 17 career a bit too easy in the end, which I think also came from the whole system of buying your own attributes regardless of performance, but that's a separate issue. Either way, I'm feeling nostalgic for the early months of DBC 14 where my player was terrible and just staying in was a real challenge, even on the same difficulty, so I'm hoping to make my new career a bit more of a challenge in not just being promoted to county level ridiculously quickly. On the other hand, I don't want to be having to hit Bradman-esque scores every week just to get noticed either.

Has anyone tried different options to see which seems to work best? I'm hoping for a balanced setting where I still have to do reasonably well, but without locking myself into club level until my player's already thinking about retirement, haha!
