Champions League Thread (the dawn of time - 2014)

How stupid do Real look now.

The two Dutch players they were eager to get rid of last season, Sneijder and Robben, have been instrumental in getting their respected sides to the Semi-finals and possibly the final by the look of things.

Haha indeed. Plus i'd say United missed a trick by not getting one of Sneijder or Robben in exchange for Ronaldo as well.

I have no regrets we sold Sneijder. He used to annoy the crap out of me (and others). Had a good start to his first season, but was short-lived.

Barca out!!!!!!!! Where is World Champions?

Anyways no doubt that they were unlucky. Bojan's goal shouldn't have been disallowed as even if it was a handball it was by no means intentional. Luck can play a big factor in knock out football.

Maicon, Lucio and Samuel were brilliant over the entire 180 minutes. Defenders rarely get much credit, but you have to give it to them.

Congratulations to Inter and congratulations to the Special One. I hope they win the final at the Bernabeu.

The "Special One" is really The "Special One". :hpraise Inter's defensive display was absolutely superb and to be honest after watching the game, I really really wonder why on earth Roman sack Mourinho a few years ago? :facepalm If he had been allow to stay on, Chelsea would have probably won the Champions League by now. Anyway, I can't wait for the final. Should be exciting and I hope Inter wins the trophy.

That was kinda boring, but I didn't take my eye off the game for one second. Amazing defending.

Anyway, I hope Bayern win.

It was not boring. It was defensive football at its very best. It cant always be about the goals and the flair and the dribbling you know.

I know. That's why I said 'kinda' boring, and I couldn't stop watching... But it certainly wasn't extremely exciting. Barca only had like 1 shot on target after their first 8 or 9 attempts, and a majority of those attempts were long range.

Spot on.

There may not have been many pieces of attacking brilliance. But it was a top draw display of one of the key aspects of football.

It's the cricketing equivalent of someone batting to save the match. There are no boundaries or big hits, but it's an engrossing contest.

Agree. And it is like a guessing game everytime Barcelona attacks wondering whether can they score.

The game was pretty intense, wave after wave of Barcelona, only to be repelled by some epic Inter defence. Pique's goal was well taken, shame United let go of him all those years ago, turning into a pretty world class player. The thing that stands out for me from the game though was 'that' save by Julio Cesar. Messi, was typical Messia (sic), made himself some room, darted round a few, and had a gorgeous curling shot, only for The Wall to just get a finger and turn it round the corner. TOP EFFORT.
