Champions League Thread (the dawn of time - 2014)

Ramires is an exceptional footballer. Definitely my MOTM in both the legs. Chelsea will dearly miss him in the final - alongside Terry, Ivanovic and Meireles.

Oh and Pep has to go...

Yep, some important players out for Chelsea. Bayern or Real Madrid in the final - tricky either way. Real are the better team, but Bayern would basically have a home game for the final if they get there.

Well I had ?10 on the draw so pretty pleased right now...
Thought Chelsea scored two fantastic goals but Barca have only got themselves to blame. Mourinho wouldn't have lost (and won't if Real reach the final).

Nice one - what were the odds? :D

Looking at this game, it has a lot of parallels with our game against Juventus back in '99 - 2-0 down and I was on the verge of giving up on it, then up pops Keano with a Captain's goal and the rest was history. Possibly the same opposition in the Final as well: Bayern Munich.

Enough of this 'interim First Team Coach' crap - give this man the job Roman, otherwise you're a grade A twit - as I've already said.

***What am I doing? I shouldn't be encouraging Chelsea to stick with Di Matteo.*** :p :p :p

Ramires is the Man of the 2 legs for me. 1st assist to drogba at Stamford Bridge and now a class goal at half time that put chelsea back in the seat. Probably he's the only difference between Barcelona and Chelsea in attack.

perfect night. slimey barcelona out, 3 penalties in their last 2 home games in the CL, and the fans getting cech booked for nothing.

terry no chance of lifting the CL and chelsea so depleted that bayern or madrid should be heavy favourites.

Just so you know, Bayern have 7 players tomorrow from a second yellow, while Madrid have 4. Bayern's 7 man list includes some extremely important players as well.

Wasn"t barca was favourite in the match against chelsea and in the end u knw who wins. And real or bayern are still easy then barca but its final anyone can win it..u cant say heavy favorites but still if madrid come they will have egde over chelsea but thats what the beauty of the football is no matter how many u make chances but who takes it will eventually wins and that what chelsea did today and on first leg as well.

Nicked off someone.

To play like that, ride your luck and get a result thanks to a much-maligned ex-LFC striker deserves credit. Well done Bolton!

that was Keane-esque from Ramires tonight. Was truly exceptional over both legs and has been Chelsea's best player all season. So unfortunate that he has to miss out on the final.

Should bookings be wiped out for the final? I can't help but feel after a long tournament it seems strange that some of the best players miss the one-off final because they picked up a few yellow cards on route. Obviously a red card should carry over, but I can't help feeling there's not too many negatives to giving both sides the best chance to have their strongest possible side for the club showcase.

Thoughts anyone?

yes but, terry still has no chance of lifting the cup because even if chelsea do win he will be suspended in the dugout and lampard will be captaining. i think madrid will be heavy favourites as in they'll be very long odds on chelsea beating them but if you're willing to give me evens then I'll take that bet ;)
