Champions League Thread (the dawn of time - 2014)

I think what you'll find really, is that his defence isn't as good as it used to be ;) He's only 29, he's only really supposed to be entering his goalkeeping peak in his next decade. Since they've been solid again, he's been excellent.

Unbelievable..........

Had 4 hours sleep just had to turn on sky sports news to make sure it wasn't a dream.

My little boy was 5 yesterday,, 5 years to the day we beat utd to win the fa cup final..

It was written in the stars,, simple as that, in football terms best day ive had in football,, still hasn't sunk in.

Unbelievable. :clap:cheers

I had forgotten that it was also Bayern who Man U beat in 1999 in similarly unlikely circumstances.

Also, in 1982, when Villa beat Bayern :D Peter Withe broke the deadlock in Rotterdam that night. The commentary for that game is plastered accross the Villa Park stands. ''Shaw, Williams, prepared to venture down the left. There's a good ball in for Tony Morley. Oh, it must be! It is!!!''

How could you possibly forget that? It was the most unbelievable comeback, that didn't come close to being matched until City's win against QPR!

By not being a Man U fan...
Sheringham and Solskjaer wasn't it?

Surely anyone who actually saw that match will never forget it, just as no one will ever forget the QPR match.

Yep, Sheringham for the equaliser and Solskjaer won it - I believe it led to his No.20 shirt being 'retired' - I'm pretty sure no-one's worn No.20 for Utd since. :)

I saw it. Pretty sure I was supporting Man U as well.
I have a stronger memory of Barlow hitting the bar and Rideout heading the rebound though unsurprisingly...

That would be the FA Cup final 1995? Everton's 'Dogs of War' and all that. Yep, I remember it well. The team were on a downer after losing the league at West Ham; that always seems to happen - win the league and we invariably go on to win the Cup if we're in the final.

Went to the parade yesterday, in a bit of a drunken state mind, was bloody crazy,, was a bit to hungover to enjoy it, but will probably be the only time i'm ever only a few feet away from the trophy with big ears...

Most of my London based Chelsea supporting mates went to it as well and seemed to have a good time. If a group of terrorists had ever wanted to gain the popular support on their side, that was a perfect time to strike ;) :p

Nah she dont care for footy, she must of thought when i said we were going chelsea we was going shopping and for lunch, little did she know it was gonna be me singing like a tit, drinking tinnys, and launching celery and bog paper about.
