Champions League Thread (the dawn of time - 2014)

This draw seems interesting!

Real vs Bayern-This might turn out to be the game of the year. Both the teams are equally equipped with great talent,I see Real have an upper edge given thar Cristiano may be back on time from his Hamstring injury.

Atletico vs Chelsea-Well,that just got way too easy for Chelsea to get through. As fiar as Thibaut Courtois' contract is concerned, these are 2 matches he cannot play because of the incredibly huge amount required to field him. That turns it easy peezy for Chelsea to kick Atleti out.Their defence has a uphill task as far as this match is concerned.

I see Real and Chelsea coming to the finals. What do y'all think?

the loan issue is on everyone's lips. UEFA released this

In a statement, Uefa explained: "Both the Champions League and the disciplinary regulations contain clear provisions which strictly forbid any club to exert, or attempt to exert, any influence whatsoever over the players that another club may (or may not) field in a match."

It added: "It follows that any provision in a private contract between clubs which might function in such a way as to influence who a club fields in a match is null, void and unenforceable so far as Uefa is concerned.

"Furthermore, any attempt to enforce such a provision would be a clear violation of both the Uefa Champions League and the Uefa disciplinary regulations and would therefore be sanctioned accordingly."

that certainly sounds like Atletico can field Courtois, but it may damage their relationship with chelsea and put some blocks in getting him full time or on loan again.

Why Fereira as Chelsea representative at semi final draw ceremony? He is retired, so still working for Chelsea?

Ultimately it's none of UEFA's business and I'm sure Chelsea/Athletico will sort it. They'll be glad to have the second leg at home again. I happen to think that Athletico are the best side left in on current form but lack of experience in the latter stages might well count against them as it did PSG.

Real vs Bayern... should it ever come down to penalties again, there's one thing Real won't do.

Send Ramos.

Will they approach the semis like that as well? You know - there's no Cristiano, so we might as well warm-up for the final.

Only if they could score 3 or 4 goals at least in the 1st leg .:p

Keep all your logics and feelings in your pockets. Its gonna Blue year this time.:p

Mhm... I'd risk it if I were them, if they can go all they way in the CL, they can get themselves a very good keeper to replace him if Chelsea do deploy petty tactics.

I think UEFA are just covering their ass so in a later date no one points the finger at them for not doing anything.

I got a Bayern vs Atletico final.

Same here, but I wouldn't be too upset with a Real vs Atletico final either.

good point, there are a lot of very highly rated young goalkeepers about just now, so a replacement would be attainable.

that and there's chelsea's interest in diego costa which might make them look the other way, bit difficult to throw a strop over courtois then go "and also, erm, we'd like to by your star forward."
