Champions League Thread (the dawn of time - 2014)

As a casual United supporter, delighted with the result.

Thought there were some fairly poor refereeing decisions going both ways tonight, Chelsea possibly coming off slightly worse, but not a lot in it.

Ronaldo goal was excellent, United created some great chances - they would have won easily in normal time if it wasn't for the brilliance of Terry and Cech.

Chelsea goal was a tough lucky, but full credit to Lampard for putting it away - they all count.

My take on the handbags incident near the end. Throughtout the game Chelsea insisted on putting it out for a throw in rather than giving it back to the keeper after Utd put it out (gamesmanship IMO). When Tevez returned the favour, Terry got annoyed and things generally got out of hand. Is this right or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

Drogba deserved the red, simply unacceptable to slap someone round the face in a football match.

Onto the penalties, thought Utd were gone when Ronaldo missed. Really feel for Terry, who's one of my fav chelsea players, and a great defender. After he missed, there was only one winner for me.

Appropriate, 50 years after Munich.

@ Madman - someone was quick off the mark!

Well done you dirty Mancs. Gotta feel for Terry though. Seent the keeper the wrong way but slipped. Drogba's gone. You just know if Drogba was on the receiving end of tht slap, he'd still be down. I was rooting Chelski instructor tonight but Arsenal were by far the best team tonight. They outpassed United and outmuscled Chelsea.

This will give 'United fans' something to brag about for the next 15 years and unless Arsenal win the Quadruple, winning every game whilst playing on their heads, I'll always hear 'When's the last time you won the CL. Hahahahahah!'

I just lost 100 kr... damn pissed at few people.

I could have had myself a Big Mac,

You could always just say that Djibril Cisse broke his leg twice and everyone laughed. Twice.

hahahahahaha...i realy feel for him the poor guy...and to say he has to meet up with half of the united players for the england squad must make him feel even worse...i mean it was just pure unlucky that he slipped just at the point of contact with the ball.....could have slipped before or after but no...just at that moment which meant luck went with manure once again...dunno how many times i have said that this season...

anyways...it was a pretty even game and chelski probably think that they deserved to win it after hitting the bar twice but all in all it was pretty even and came down to who can hold their nerve in the pressure of the pen. shoot out and manure did that better than chelski...i had a funny feeling before the shoot-out though that ronaldo was gonna miss it...but yh congrats to em i suppose...good double but watch out, it won't even be half as easy next time as it was this time (although it wasn't easy at all was it:rolleyes:)

N.B. i think there will be some notable departures from the chelski team...drogba and lampard being two of em and possibly avram grant as well...i mean wt the hell was drogba doin slappin vidic when you know you are that close to the pens and your team needs you...disgraceful behaviour and abrahomovich should sell him himself if he doesn't leave on his own...

I just remembered I had 10k on this. Real dosh of course. I don't spend cheap. ask my hoes. Culli and Tom.

A good match it was. Too bad Terry slipped out on the penalty. I thought for sure Chelsea were going to win the final.

First half Manchester United were the better team and in the second half it was Chelsea. In the extended time there were some great chances also. Great stop eventually of van der Sar.

Also, why the hell was Cashley Mole taking a pen? He did know that he didn't get an extra 10k a week for scoring, right? He obviously has no power in his shot and if VDS had dived properly, he would have saved it.

Annoys me how everyone feels so sorry for Lampard, yer its bad but everyones parents will die and we have to get on with it not dwell so much.

YYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!

Get in!!!!!!!! I thought we were gone for all money when Ronaldo missed, he did stagger his run up, he staggered it too damn much!! Van Der Star was brilliant all the way through, he nearly saved two penalties.

In the first half, we were the better team, but that Lampard goal really gave them the momentum and they were probably the better team in the second half. Apart from the Lampard goal, our defending was fantastic and Edwin made a few vital saves as well. Tevez was unlucky to score. Drogba deserved to go, you cannot clip someone round the face like that in a football match.

I have to say, I felt a little sorry for the Chelsea players afterwards, I have never seen anything like that in a football match before: it was like they were all at a funeral, but when it went to penalties, we were always going to win it (even though Ronaldo missed), as Edwin van der Sar is a proven penalty saver, he's saved numerous ones for us throughout his time with us.

Well done, Utd. The Utd team from 50 years ago will be proud.

This time, let's carry it on into next season's Champions League and not lose the hunger the way we did after '99!

Wait - Where is Lamps going?

Lamps can't go! :(

Lampard shouldn't go anywhere, I think it would be a mistake for him at the moment.
