League Table

After just 5 matches in the new season Chelsea and Liverpool have made a great start to the season . Both the clubs are tied with 13 points but Chelsea lead because of the the more number of goals scored . Arsenal who started the season with a bang failed to win two macthes and are at 11 points . While it is surprsing to see West Ham , Charlton , Newcastle and Porstmouth at a higher position over Manchester United who are struggling for form this season . While Sheffield United , Aston Villa , Watford , Everton , Middlesbrough , Bolton , Wigan , Blackburn and Reading share the middle half of the table . While Fulham and Manchester City are struggling and Tottenham Hotspurs are unable to even draw a match as they have just 1 point from possible 15 . Looks like there is gonna be a new Tottenham Manager soon .

(Shevchenko wants Milan return)

Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko wants to leave the Premier League club and wants to move back to Italy, club owner Roman Abramovich said on Friday.

"He wants to leave. He wants to go back to Italy," English newspaper The Sun quoted Abramovich as saying.

Shevchenko has been frequently linked with a move to Serie A giants AC Milan and recently held a meeting with Abramovich at his residence.

The former European Footballer of the Year joined Chelsea from AC Milan in 2005.

Shevchenko confirmed at a press conference at Chelsea's training ground on Friday that he had discussed with Abramovich the possibility of leaving the club.

"It is useless hiding things -- I was with the president, we talked of many things and also about the possibility that I could leave," said the forward.

"There hasn't been a definitive decision. I want to be clear, we are only talking. This has nothing to do with my relationship with Chelsea, there has always been a great deal of affection, as with my team mates and coaches.

"The decision that I am considering regards above all my family," added Shevchenko.

"I want to say another thing to the fans who have always been and will be very important to me -- it is not about financial matters either, that would be absurd.

"I find it hard to talk about this and now I have to weigh things up well after two years at Chelsea and think. We haven't taken any decision -- we will see in the coming days," he said.

Chelsea is at the top of the table after 5 games and is leading Group C in the Champions League .

Shevchenko, who is set to lead Ukraine in the country's qualification for EURO 2008 which will start next week . Shevchenko also lead Ukraine to the quarter finals of the FIFA World Cup 2006 held in Germany .

Match Report : Chelsea 3 Tottenham 0

Ricardo_Carvalho_484114a.jpg

(Carvalho was just brilliant during the game)

It was yet another easy win for the home side the Blues as they beat most struggling team this season Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 . Tottenham needed a win but it was impossible as Chelsea completely outplayed them .

Scolari had made some changes to the side that beat Werder Bremen . Essien was shifted to righ back and Lampard came in for Ballack . Shevchenko after his leaving the club rumours was left on the bench .

Cech took a long goal kick which was heded towards Lampard by Kaboul , Lampard passed it on the right to Robinho who put a low cross which was put in the net passed Gomes by the French striker Nicolas Anelka to make it 1-0 .

Throw-in for Spurs . Salteri throwed it towards Bentley and he was fouled by Essien . Booking for Essien . Bentley took the freekick and Ledley King headed the ball but it easily saved by Petr Cech .

Cech kicked the ball high in the air Anelka headed down to Kaka who did one two with Joe Cole , but Kaka's shot was well wide the target . Some good defending by the sweeper Kaboul which put a lot of pressure on Kaka while taking his shot .

Chelsea lead 1-0 at half time . Scolari brought Shevchenko for Anelka and Ballack for Deco in the interval .

After the restart Chelsea went 2-0 up thanks to a brilliant low strike by Kaka' making his tally to 6 goals this season . Lampard put a great through ball to Kaka who stopped it and took the shot as he turned . Ball went through the legs of King and pass Gomes into the net.

10 minutes to go and Chelsea earned a corner . Lampard took a short one to Robinho who did some tricks against Salteri before he crossed it in and defender Ricardo Carvalho who was having an outstanding match headed the ball in the net to make it 3 for the home side .

Tottenham could have got a consolation when Bent headed in the net from the cross of Bentley but the gaol was disallowed as bent was clearly offside . But soon later Berbatov strike from 20 yards was saved by the fingertips of Petr Cech .

Uriah Rennie blew the final whistle and Chelsea's unbeaten home record continue . Scolari waved to the fans and congratulated his team . But all the focus was on Shevchenko as he had to hear the boo's of the Chelsea fans as he went in the tunnel .
