Codemasters shifts focus in favour of Racing

I really like the snooker app on my iphone. Difficult to break build but rewarding therefore. Sadly no depth.

I like games with some challenge. So many games these days are gloryfied QTEs.

Push x. Push x again. Push x lots. Win.

we could always encourage eidos/square enix to make a sim, they made big cup cricket for iphone/android and its pretty fun and challenging.

Codemasters had great success with F1 series. F1 2010 was a decent game, it was not the best game in terms of sim racing, but it still was fun to play. F1 2011 is a great game, they worked hard to improve the game in terms of gameplay and adding more features like kers and drs. Cricket games are hard to make, but codemasters haven't had the sales they were expecting. They are heading in the right direction because they do make some good racing games, Dirt 3 was good and so was F1 2011. Also these games have sold extremely well. I don't know why you guys even want another cricket game from codies. All of them are have been quite rubbish.

Rubbish? IC2010 wasn't rubbish! Codies have never made a perfect cricket game, but it would be better if they made one than if they didn't make one.

It would be good for us, but for them it's not worth it to spend money developing cricket games. The sales are not great, but that's not all. They can afford to spend the money each year developing racing games because they know the amount of money it will bring them. Also the money is a big factor, but the reason racing games have been a success because they are actually good games. All I want is a cricket game with good gameplay and options like world tour with a team, different format. Adding challenge modes stuff like that would the game more entertaining.

Agree that it's not the best for them finically, but any developer/publisher interested in cricket game should be encouraged at this point.

Agree with you 100%

You must have bought the non bug filled copy that didn't completely balls up the rain then amongst other things then... :facepalm

Is really not hard to make DLC. If they dont want to produce a whole new game. Just release a DLC for IC2010 every year. Updated eng/aus teams. Fixed bugs. And perhaps a new feature i.e new fielding or improved ai. Well worth 800msp every 12 months to me.

I agree... :yes

I thought IC2010 was pretty decent and a patched AC2009 on an Alienware PC (it runs smooth) EA's Cricket 2007 was ok, I liked a modded 2005 better to be honest.

Personally I think the door could be open to new developers working under codemasters in the future, benchmark could be IC2010 as it does have new features and graphically is good, I personally think HB's animation is better but HB at the moment (as it's last game is 5 years old) is a bit left behind with new game features.

I think HB Studio's will make another cricket in the future but the million dollar question is when and I think it'll be a completely new game... I could be wrong but that is my honest opinion.

But for now we are lacking a new cricket game and will be for the foreseeable, I don't believe Cricket Life will release or TAOC and we have to accept that!!!

IC2010 had the right idea. Its time for cricket games to move on from birdseye to first/third person perspective. It was just executed poorly. Slow down the ball speed just a bit, remove the ball marker when playing from a batsmen's perspective.

Basically look at how EA's baseball games work.

I was hoping they'd reveal something big for the back to back Ashes though. Very disappointed. But there's this new thing in the block called kickstarter.com
Some devs have managed to raise upto a million dollars for their game ideas. If there's a talent development team here at PC, you may want to look into it and see if people fund it once you have a decent strategy.

Here's one dev who was extremely successful :
Wasteland 2 by inXile entertainment — Kickstarter

When every publisher refused to do the sequel.

There's been a few kickstarter successes so far, but most of them are off the back of past success or past IP.

I also think you have to be based in the USA to set one up at the moment, which obviously hampers the chances for cricket.

Codemasters BLC '05 & '07 were nothing but CRAP.Ashes 2009 was the only saving grace,on the contrary EA starting right from Melbourne House's 97 all games have been very interesting indeed and the patchers of PC have kept '07 alive, the only reason being thats most likely the last ever 'PROPER' cricket game.Hope some newbee studio comes up with some innovative ideas and develope a cricket game atleast to EA '07 standards but ofcourse with all the latest features.:thumbs
