Commonwealth Bank Series

Agree that was an awesome over from Bond, kept Hayden on the back foot which is what you want.

A drop catch from Fleming probably should have been McCullum's one and it was Gilly too.

if you look at each of our indidvidual players then we aren't too bad at batting. bowling well let's not talk about that.

The only problem with the English batting is there no big hitter now that KP is gone apart from Flintoff. The rest are more nudges of the ball.

Don't think that was McCullum's Sly. Would have been a great effort to even lay a glove on it.

And England's batting is as woeful as their bowling. It's no good looking at individual players and how good they are on their own because they don't bat well as a unit, which is what counts.

well theres mal loye but our selectors won't play him because they realise he will be succesful and they want our players to fail so the ECB don't have to pay them as much

That's more a keepers catch though as it was going to his right.

I'd agree with that but Ian Bell is capable of getting on top of the bowling. He just doesn't have the confidence.

Shane Bond has got Hayden's number here. Sooner or later he is going to get on the front foot to a ball that isn't there to be hit and he'll edged behind.

Franklin is releasing the pressure though, Gilly taking him apart.
At least that 4 means Hayden is on strike to Bond again.

If Hayden or Gilchrist can survive for quite a while then this could easily turn into a run-feast, especially with the form they are in now and the batting still to come.

The commentators were joking about that before, they did say that the Aussies are looking to bat like they do in 20/20 all the way through 50 overs. This will test that theory out.

Patel on to bowl now so this should be interesting seeing how we go this time against the spin, powerplay not taken either.

patel found some turn and bowled well. doesn't matter if he's not bakced up at the other end though. they should bring vettori in too.

also on the England fron if they want somone to score quickly in the powerplays then why don't they play read and open with him?

I honestly think we can see 400 scored here. Jeetan Patel is a very good spinner though.

Gillespie grabs Hayden another start by him but again out to a poor shot. Patel and Gillespie are doing a good job so far and once again not taking the powerplay has worked for the bowling side.
