CPU Bowling

Hi everyone

Long time reader, first time poster.

Personally I find that the CPU bowls mainly full at off stump, and other than a flick to the leg side or a single down to mid on, I find it hard to score runs. I have practiced in the nets but as there is no confidence meter so I?m unsure of when to try them in a game, and keep on getting out.

I was wondering if anyone has found the files that store the CPU bowling settings. So the CPU could be made to bowl a little wider and a touch shorter. This would mean more off side shots/edges behind into play and also the decision of if to leave the ball or not.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

I agree, the cpu bowling is way to straight and full, not enough wide balls ect. For the full balls on offstump you can front foot legglance/straight drive (like you suggested) or advance smash, advance ondrive (advance ondrive seems quite effective, cos you can wip past midon for a single or occasional boundry).

I have played over 50 overs now and haven't played a single cover drive. That says it all. 90% of my runs have come on the leg side and 10% striaght I think.

Havent you guys realised yet you can play the cover drive to balls just missing your off stump, or to ones that are of a good length or just back of a good length?

Cheers, Jonah just said that to me too but I did a pathetic attempt at a cover drive and cut shot but failed miserably. Do any of you guys even get to play a single cut shot even? I used to like the cut shots in Cricket 2004 but never really had any opportunity in Cricket 2005 yet.

Cut shots are a problem for me too Ravi (similarly one of my favourites in c2k4). You can connect but the ball has to be pitched in exactly the right place and wide enough. Some tweaking with the stroke files needed there.

Yea it seems all to easy to play over the top of them against the quicks. The cut shots against spinners are fine and effective, and go for four behind square if timed correctly.

We need to adjust the human trajectory horizontal and vertical slightly like you could on 2004, so that we can connect with the cut shot easier. This will however make all shots easier so its not necessarily a good idea.
