Cricket 19 General Discussion

EB Games as usual are very quick to make the game available to pre-order in Australia. No surprises with the price either. If this game lives up to the hype though it will be worth every dollar.

JB Hifi will be the better place to pick it up from, new games generally release at either $69 or $79, beats paying EB's and PS Store extortionate prices lol

Not reading through 17+ pages... Is it going to be the same bowling controls/mechanics as 17/Ashes? If so then I have no desire to play it...

how would you change the controls?
I said before, but I believe the bowling mechanics were inherently flawed. On certain pitches you could not bowl the ball to hit the top of off-stump. Full ball is too full, adding the shorter variation was still too full. Good length was too short, adding the fuller variation was still too short.
Essentially, there was a good range of the stumps's height that you could not hit.

so go back to the variation of length by release point....like the older games

Yes, you are right. If only I had a JB Hi-Fi in my city.

Good advice for other Australians to follow though when the game releases.

- There's been work on improving cameras, I personally use a newly added camera as the one I use for the 'Fielding Camera'.

While the existing gameplay cameras were really nice and any improvements are welcome, I would suggest the biggest difference presentation wise would be rehauling the replay cameras and the speed/frame-rate they display at. I think picking camera angles from the industry standard camera positions and lens choices would yield best results.
The other thing about cameras - like seen on the wide view of the Lord's Ground - you can see how the stadium is all in focus while the background immediately goes out-of-focus and the whole background is flat cause of no progressive blur. I'm not sure what are the settings on the camera but switching to a focal length based focus/point of interest would make things far better.

Other than that, this looks great and I can't wait to get it Day 1 :)

Can I acknowledge and note the request in a way that means no one takes any inference on my answer? If not, I'll go with 'say nothing'.

I acknowledge your acknowledgement. Looking forward to the info to come

Yeah not ideal if you've not got access to a JB, obviously could order online and have it sent out, but chances are you'd be waiting a few days after release with that.

In case I have missed out on this info on previous pages, is the game based on previous Don Bradman & Ashes games or is it complete reboot/made from scratch?

Just to generally field some questions -

- Fielding has been a very high priority for improvements, especially in terms of reactions, throwing and movement, and there's lots of new mocap there and across the game. You would have seen some of the new wicketkeeper movements in the screenshots so far.
- There's been work on improving cameras, I personally use a newly added camera as the one I use for the 'Fielding Camera'.
- I can't give any details on an academy release, or PC System Requirements, or the supported features/resolutions/frame rates on console at this stage.

I'm sure I've addressed this in the past, but there was no different broadcast camera in the ground training - it was simply the normal broadcast camera from the game, but acted differently because there was a bowling machine rather than a bowler - so the camera was fixed before the machine released the ball. There were 'Fixed' cameras added to Ashes to try and emulate that while having an actual bowler.

We have sliders in the game because there are not defaults that can suit everyone. Without discussing specifics - I think you will be increasingly disappointed if you want no sliders.

Yes.

Hi Mattw, thanks for the info. The requested user is asking about the fielding camera angle that goes along with the ball for lofted shots. This was there in the demo but not in the actual game. I hope newly added fielding camera that you are mentioning here will hv this feature.

I would also like to see leg spinners bowl more leg spinners than googlys. In the current ashes cricket most of the times leg spinners bowl off spinners.
