I don't know if this is a stupid concept or not, but I've been thinking a lot lately, as I always do, about different things to do with Ashes Cricket and like what I would personally like to see improved on and or implemented in the new Cricket 19 game.
So here are some things I'd like to address graphic and academy wise as I am a stikler for games with brilliant life-like graphics and an awesome academy, in sports games of course, with many different options and in-depth enhancements to help the community to create players, teams, bats, stadiums etc.
First I'd like to address a few points graphic-wise for the game, again I don't know if this is stupid of me to think this but it's just the little things that make the game so much better and authentic, of course gameplay is probably the most important aspect of a game but the graphics and those nice little additional touches brings things to life and just adds to the game as much as some people may not notice, anyway enough rambling. Let's get to the point...
Firstly, you see in real life when a veteran player who has been playing for many years have deteriorated and fading baggys or caps, that's because once you've made your test debut you only get one baggy, it travels with you throughout different countries and sees many different weather conditions throughout your career. Well wouldn't you like to see say a 44 year old Shiv Chanderpaul playing for Lancashire with a 20-odd year old detoriated baggy.
It would be a nice little touch and add even more realism to the game, you see a ball and pitch detoriate in game so why not the baggy or even a bat two with some nice cherries on it, some little marks, scratches, dents or a big old crack. It would add a great aspect to the game in my opinion.
Secondly, you know how when players dive into the crease to narrowly make it home before the bails are swiftly wipped off by the keeper and when the batsman gets up you see him with a dirty or muddy shirt especially in a rain affected game with a muddy pitch and wet grass it would just add even more realism to the game if this was implemented too so when in game if you press to dive in the crease or if the AI dive in a close run out chance that when the batsman gets up his shirt is all dirty. A dusty pitch results in the batsman having a dusty shirt that's hard to clean, a dry pitch that makes the batsman's shirt dirty and a muddy pitch that results in the batsman having a muddy shirt or the fielders could have this implemented to them too when diving to stop a ball rocketing past them or a to take a brilliant diving airborne catch one-handed only to fall to the ground and land on the grass or have their knee dig into the ground with a dirty stain on the pants in the knee area and a big dirty patch on the shirt.
Picture this the batsmen shake hands and hug celebrating in the middle of the pitch covered in pink muddy shirts after chasing down a big unlikely target in a dark cloudy rain affected game while the fielding team lays disappointed on the wet muddy grass after sadly losing. It would be great to see another realistic touch like this with a dirty coloured T20 uniform or the classic dirty whites how cool and realistic would that make the game. Would bring back past memories when we've only just made it home after needing a single off the last ball to win and diving into the pitch celebrating with your teammates in muddy cricket gear and lifting the shield.
Alright, now I'll move into talk about academy wise aspects of the game I'd like to see implemented in Cricket 19.
Space, that sums it up pretty well. Space or thereof the lack of it. So you go and buy a new cricket game to play after tirelessly working hard all week and you just want to get home, put it in your console and hop right in, relax on your couch with a beverage or two and have a good time playing it. You go into the academy to download teams so you can play with all the correct gear and all that good stuff but you find at some point that an error comes up telling you that you have no more logo space so you can't download any more logos and replace the remaining default teams or update any teams with slick new kits for a new season unless you delete some of the logos that you did have space for, you also find you can't download all the awesome bats made by creators in the community used by different players in all the different teams and leagues around the world and if you want to update a bat after the company updated their bat layouts for a new year that you have to delete the old versions of it and go through spending ages to re-assign the updated bat to the hundreds of players who use that exact bat. You also see on the PC Forums stadium thread and look up on cricket websites all the stadiums used by different teams around the world and you want to download all these awesome stadiums from the community as well as some wicked somehow life-like really hard to create amazing looking 92' WC stadiums by a fella who must be wasting his youth, time consumingly creating the stadiums to bring back the good old memories of some of the world's best looking stadiums used in that WC, as by his username
@wasteyouryouth suggests.
Well unfortunately you can't download all the great stuff on the academy from the community because of a logo, bat and stadium space size limit. Speaking on behalf I would therefore like to have the space available to download these creations increased so I can and many others can enjoy everything created by the amazing creators in the community and truly play a life like cricket game with brilliant realistic graphics and to be able to download all the correct teams, kits, gear, players, bats, stadiums etc etc etc.
Ashes Cricket was great, best cricket game yet so well done BA, but it's just these little or big things that would make drastic improvments to a cricket game.
God damn, I'm so happy I've finished typing because this took me a bloody long time, of course this post probably took up a whole page on this thread but anyway let me know you're thinking, your deepest darkest thoughts!....Hope it didn't take too long to read
