Cricket 19 General Discussion

$30,000 USD is not a great deal in the grand scheme of things for them, and ultimately with distribution costs etc the real figure they'd get is far less. Even if they got that, that's not even covering the wages of one developer for the period of time the game was being developed (I'd hope).

India will one day rise as a major market, but random speculation of figures aren't helping. Previously though, they have turned out to not be a massive market for them, and targeting students, who aren't known anywhere in the World for having the cash to splurge on full price games, seems a strange argument.
Looks like you clearly dint understand my point... 30,000 USD just could be the amount from the place around where I stay in Bangalore... You can do the math across India and see for yourself... And if you don't target this population it's going to be a miss.

42 pages in one lunchtime. 10 pages of excellent contribution from the usual posters and as for the other 32, well they make me want to scoop my eyes out with a spoon, set them on fire, stamp out the fire, put the ashes into an urn, create a cricketing rivalry over the urn, make a game about said cricketing rivlary and moan on an internet forum that I've just been bowled by a 220cm left handed Virat Kohli with no eyes............

It's good to be back, roll on Cricket 19.
Not to mention so call jokes, people trying to be funny

I don't know if this is a stupid concept or not, but I've been thinking a lot lately, as I always do, about different things to do with Ashes Cricket and like what I would personally like to see improved on and or implemented in the new Cricket 19 game.

So here are some things I'd like to address graphic and academy wise as I am a stikler for games with brilliant life-like graphics and an awesome academy, in sports games of course, with many different options and in-depth enhancements to help the community to create players, teams, bats, stadiums etc.

First I'd like to address a few points graphic-wise for the game, again I don't know if this is stupid of me to think this but it's just the little things that make the game so much better and authentic, of course gameplay is probably the most important aspect of a game but the graphics and those nice little additional touches brings things to life and just adds to the game as much as some people may not notice, anyway enough rambling. Let's get to the point...

Firstly, you see in real life when a veteran player who has been playing for many years have deteriorated and fading baggys or caps, that's because once you've made your test debut you only get one baggy, it travels with you throughout different countries and sees many different weather conditions throughout your career. Well wouldn't you like to see say a 44 year old Shiv Chanderpaul playing for Lancashire with a 20-odd year old detoriated baggy.

It would be a nice little touch and add even more realism to the game, you see a ball and pitch detoriate in game so why not the baggy or even a bat two with some nice cherries on it, some little marks, scratches, dents or a big old crack. It would add a great aspect to the game in my opinion.

Secondly, you know how when players dive into the crease to narrowly make it home before the bails are swiftly wipped off by the keeper and when the batsman gets up you see him with a dirty or muddy shirt especially in a rain affected game with a muddy pitch and wet grass it would just add even more realism to the game if this was implemented too so when in game if you press to dive in the crease or if the AI dive in a close run out chance that when the batsman gets up his shirt is all dirty. A dusty pitch results in the batsman having a dusty shirt that's hard to clean, a dry pitch that makes the batsman's shirt dirty and a muddy pitch that results in the batsman having a muddy shirt or the fielders could have this implemented to them too when diving to stop a ball rocketing past them or a to take a brilliant diving airborne catch one-handed only to fall to the ground and land on the grass or have their knee dig into the ground with a dirty stain on the pants in the knee area and a big dirty patch on the shirt.

Picture this the batsmen shake hands and hug celebrating in the middle of the pitch covered in pink muddy shirts after chasing down a big unlikely target in a dark cloudy rain affected game while the fielding team lays disappointed on the wet muddy grass after sadly losing. It would be great to see another realistic touch like this with a dirty coloured T20 uniform or the classic dirty whites how cool and realistic would that make the game with those textures. Would bring back past memories when we've only just made it home after needing a single off the last ball to win and diving into the pitch celebrating with your teammates in muddy cricket gear and lifting the shield.

Alright, now I'll move into talk about academy wise aspects of the game I'd like to see implemented in Cricket 19.

Space, that sums it up pretty well. Space or thereof the lack of it. So you go and buy a new cricket game to play after tirelessly working hard all week and you just want to get home, put it in your console and hop right in, relax on your couch with a beverage or two and have a good time playing it. You go into the academy to download teams so you can play with all the correct gear and all that good stuff but you find at some point that an error comes up telling you that you have no more logo space so you can't download any more logos and replace the remaining default teams or update any teams with slick new kits for a new season unless you delete some of the logos that you did have space for, you also find you can't download all the awesome bats made by creators in the community used by different players in all the different teams and leagues around the world and if you want to update a bat after the company updated their bat layouts for a new year that you have to delete the old versions of it and go through spending ages to re-assign the updated bat to the hundreds of players who use that exact bat. You also see on the PC Forums stadium thread and look up on cricket websites all the stadiums used by different teams around the world and you want to download all these awesome stadiums from the community as well as some wicked somehow life-like really hard to create amazing looking 92' WC stadiums by a fella who must be wasting his youth, time consumingly creating the stadiums to bring back the good old memories of some of the world's best looking stadiums used in that WC, as by his username @wasteyouryouth suggests.

Well unfortunately you can't download all the great stuff on the academy from the community because of a logo, bat and stadium space size limit. Speaking on behalf I would therefore like to have the space available to download these creations increased so I can and many others can enjoy everything created by the amazing creators in the community and truly play a life like cricket game with brilliant realistic graphics and to be able to download all the correct teams, kits, gear, players, bats, stadiums etc etc etc.

Ashes Cricket was great, best cricket game yet so well done BA, but it's just these little or big things that would make drastic improvments to a cricket game.

God damn, I'm so happy I've finished typing because this took me a bloody long time, of course this post probably took up a whole page on this thread but anyway let me know you're thinking, your deepest darkest thoughts!....Hope it didn't take too long to read :p

If I am not wrong, most successful games these days are which have good online play communities... Big Ant doing wonderful job to impress offline players for sure with there customize options etc, but they still struggling in online area... So looking forward to Cricket 19 on this for sure...
Yes agreed. Online definitely needs some special efforts. Hoping for the best

Yes I know what you mean, those so called joksters really do get on my nerves too. Honestly who tries to be funny, unless you actually have good jokes or are genuinely a funny person. Jeez those wannabes though, 'I know I'm not' that's for sure...:spy:rolleyes:p

Nice post and some really good points.... the space issue however is totally out of BA's hands for consoles I think... they have already made an effort in Ashes 17 in upping the logo limit at the expense of saved game space, some folks... like myself play online, and in online Im playing in a league which requires a saved game space, actually 2 as it autosaves after every over, then I play friends in other formats these all require 2 saved game slots to play, our limit on saved games is now 5, this at the end of games now we get a warning CANNOT SAVE GAME .......this is also very very frustrating....

I do not know what Sony's problem is re space when we can now all get external haddrives, games are now over 100GB in size and they force a space limit of storing logos, saved games etc??? makes no sense whatsoever....I only hope and pray BA find a creative solution to this...

I guess Sony have to make sure that everyone is catered for, from people with the system that has the lowest storage space to the highest storage space. All the day one patches and apps that you can get (I've got Netflix, Amazon, Twitch, IPlayer and bunch of others on my PS4) probably take up space. It's even more frustrating on PC when you have mountains of space that could be utilised.

When I create stuff I'm always conscious of the logo space and try to do more with less. That's why I went back and re-did almost all my adboards to be double sponsors.

A few more suggestions:

Stumping and gather-run-outs would benefit from better/quicker animations. Presently, the fielder who receives the ball is far too slow and sort of flings the bails off. Along with fixing throws as many have already suggested, this would bring fielding back into the game.

I'm not sure if seam position on the ball did anything in Ashes, but I always thought this was a great inclusion. If this can be perfected somehow with subtle movement off the pitch depending on seam position, that would make pace bowling a lot of fun. However, as others have suggested, not every bowler should be able to bowl every delivery. So not every pacer should have both inswing and outswing in their repertoire. Similarly, I think how much we can manipulate the seam should depend on the bowler's talent/skills.

EDIT: Also, I'd like to reiterate my point about fielding positions. Having more 'dots' or 'spots' where we can place fielders would be nice as well.

I am only looking for improvement in gameplay.
1) Weather changes and impact on the match situation . In Ashes at present , Overcast conditions also looking like Bright sun and shadows.
2)Pitch behavior and degradation
3) Cut shots, in Ashes at present cut shots are weird animations.
Cosmetic changes are not my interest

It’d be great if they let us know the list of Eng/Oz players that have been face scanned/are officially in the game.

On the clip I heard Ross said they were doing, I think it was the England players soon after.

If your talking about the podcast interview that was done with Ross talking about the new game then that interview was done last December I'm pretty sure so I'd assume if they were doing the England players soon after then they would've probably face scanned all the England players who toured the Caribbean for the series against West Indies which started in January. They may have got some face scans from the Sri Lanka series before as well too. Like you stated it would be good to know the list of licensed players in the game. They revealed the list of licensed players for the AO Tennis game before it came out, although I think they only had 12 licensed players in that to begin with anyway. I guess we'll wait and see. Giving Ross a shout on Twitter wouldn't hurt I suppose, he seems to be replying to people quite often and giving out hints.

Just because of this game’s announcement, I have now started playing Ashes Cricket again, for the next two months. So, I am totally ready :D

When I heard scenario mode, I thought it was going to be like the last day of the Edgbaston Test in 05. Try and score the runs for Oz to win or take the wickets for England. I thought maybe we’d bat or bowl in the second innings of the 800+ Oz/SA ODI.

People seem to be expecting different things and that maybe we have to create the scenarios.

Does anybody have a clear picture on this?[DOUBLEPOST=1552750875][/DOUBLEPOST]

Yeah, definitely worth getting some much needed batting practice in... for me anyway!

The studio also revealed there will be a scenario mode which will allow players to recreate memorable real-life match situations and share them online to challenge others to complete them.

Gave PlayFace another go on AO tennis.

Don't mind things like the skin colour etc, was just trying something new. What do you guys think?

Look familiar?

I think with enough practice we can make this work...
