Cricket 19 General Discussion

There have been constant attempts to improve field placing and AI bowling before and since release. Sometimes things slip through though.

I've had a look myself and provided some feedback to BA.

There might be nuances that have come out in the patches that I’ve missed but I’m honestly surprised to read this because I honestly can’t see it.

The field placement and particularly the frequency of changes are by a distance the worst thing in the game.

I totally get and sympathise with the difficulty of field placements and having a variety of fields that also manage to cover gaps and areas players hit or target goals such as blocking singles or boundaries or attacking a weakness. I understand that’s incredibly difficult.

But it’s not difficult to suppress the regular changes to the field in tests, it's very simple logic. Fields don’t change often in tests, they bowl to a plan. Fields change because of an “event” (ie a wicket, change of batsman or bowler, a flurry of boundaries, a chance etc.)

I had a thing earlier where I hit 2 boundaries to the leg side, and the AI put a fielder on the boundary (great). I hit one defensive shot, and they took him out and the next ball I got a boundary in the same place again. That is really poor - it is not hard to conceive or programme an algorithm that prevents field changes with that frequency.

Field never opens up through the odi match for me and mostly remains the same for one batsman through out, like bowler A will have same exact field for batsman B throughout the match.

Maybe I should have added that this is ongoing.

Another AI field placement bug im noticing is that they dont put fielders on offside boundary and only on legside boundary. i hit 4 fours through the offside but they never changed the field, and legside boundary still had 3 men covering and no one covering offside boundaries. i play mostly t20.

Not really sure about the types. But AI doesn't spread the field after Powerplays and also does not set fields though shots are played frequently in one area.

This I have noticed. In my games the ai do use field placements with more than 2 outside the circle but they didn’t really change the field even after hitting 3 fours in a row in the same gap.

I’m sure it is but what I meant was that I can’t see any change at all across the patches and there is one obvious easy change in tests that would improve things immediately - prevent them changing if the field if they already have within the last 3 overs unless in the event of a wicket, or >x boundaries/runs in a given area, or getting closer in a chase

first thing to be improved is gameplay asusual. they should consider commentary too as 1st preference so i mentioned that ....

Will u play with same commentary with next year game also ??? thats cool . cheers[DOUBLEPOST=1563033310][/DOUBLEPOST]
lol :D
I do what I do every year and turn it off before playing a game. Commentary is always going to be repetitive, even if they say things at times they shouldn't it will still be the same stuff over and over again. Not worth the time and effort imo.

I'd sooner have some great on field and ambient/crowd audio, it's one area this has improved.

Has anyone experienced the below during your play-through?

"When bowling, the AI will suss out your player and team’s weaknesses, and target that with a concentrated bowling strategy. When batting, the AI will rotate the strike to protect weaker players, and actively look for gaps in the field."

I haven't started career mode yet, but can any of the career mode players confirm the below?

" Enhancements to the career mode build a story around your player; how you look in the news headlines affects your potential career trajectory."

to the 1st part. not sure how one is supposed to know if that is infact even happening. ive been wondering about that too. for eg. ive noted that when facing a left arm bowler from over the wicket to a right hand batsman. was receiving a lot of balls pitched on leg or even outside leg , with an easy opportunity to flick it leg side for easy run or 2

as for AI batting had a match where it made around 165 in 100 overs . so much for looking for gaps. a very large percentage of shots were played straight to a fielder. Not sure if pitch/outfield type has anything to do with it

Nothing for the second part. Very poor, it's exactly the same as Ashes Cricket apart from a guy who comments every now and then when you are getting close to selection.

Hi,

Can someone please help me. I have been looking for a solution for days. I am at career mode stuck at overall rating at 80. My career player is an all rounder. I am unable to unlock anything despite having 84 skill points and 10 ability points in both batting and bowling. Is there something am doing wrong !?

Hopefully they live up to some of there comments when the PC Game comes out when it available for everyone
