Cricket 2004 bugs list

indeed it does. however, i have some serious doubts about c2k4 besides the bugs.

it is very easy to miss how astonishingly poor the ai is in this game because you are too busy trying to look past the bugs. but if you take the bowling as an example - the field set when you come out to bat at the start of an innings is usally a fairly aggressive one. usually a variation on a 6-3 field. the bowler will then proceed to bowl all over the shop with no inkling of bowling to his field, or a plan of attack.

i don't put up with that from my bowlers playing grade cricket, and i am sure an international captain wouldn't either.

Agreed there Scatter. It would maybe be OK on easy level to have the bowler spraying the ball around a little, so enabling the new cricket gamer the opportunity to score runs and get a'feel' for batting, but the harder the difficulty, the more the bowler should bowl to his field placings and use more of a strategy, i.e. no mid off but more slips/gulleys, pitch the ball up on or outside off to encourage the drive but with the hope of getting an edge (especially on a green-top), or employ a short leg and short backward sq leg and bowl plenty of short stuff. Also, there are still far too many yorkers bowled for my liking.
It should also take into account the batsmens weaknesses; ie, make the most of it if a batsman doesn't like the ball whizzing past his ears.
EA had the opportunity to use all this in this game, after the feedback from c2k2, especially with the introduction of the player management, but appeared to have failed, unfortunately.

I don't think the bowling AI is really too bad. I played an ING cup match between NSW vs South Australia on hard and Gillespie had a strong offside field and proceeded to bowl a line accordingly. Then I found hard was a little too hard for my standards.

Then with the line-up change bug, it's a problem that should be addressed immediately. I don't know if it's just me but that bug makes the game unplayable, I've owned it just over a day and I'm already sick of it because of that bug. I haven't had too much problems with the other bugs, I've seen them but they only happen occasionaly and I can deal with.

I dont know if this has been posted before, but also the the Net Run Rate is screwed up. I won all my matches but 1 in the World Championship and i was -2 sumthing, when really i should be +1 or 2 sumthin

I haven't read all the threads, so these might have been mentioned.
*For the love of god, could there be a way of turning off that bloody practice net "coach". He's completely wrong most of the time, anyway. ie the ball is short and outside off stump, he says "you should have played that off the front foot". Ah shut the f*@$ up!
*In placing costom fields, the placing is correct, but the player you put there is somewhere else. ie Shane Bond is at slip, Stephen Flemming is at mid-off.
*When a fielder is about to pick the ball up just inside the rope, he steps over the line and fires the ball back to no-one. The ball ends up on the far side of the field and there is a delay before resuming.

Lol, our newly hired coach IS very annoying and VERY wrong. And that bug is very annoying, because South Africa is maybe the only team who's has fast bowlers as successful slippers...the thing changes the players in the position completely around. However the last bug has neever happened to me

I had that plenty of time plus you dont get runs for the once you run after the over throw towards the far side where no one is there.

I feel sorry for most of you here still spending your money on Fifa and Cricket games made by EA come on I thought people knew years ago to stop wasting there money.

Dont be so narrow minded with thinking EA is the best if you really love football don't buy Fifa buy the Pro Evolution Soccer series and you will find out what gameplay really is.

Andrew Wilson the creator of Cricket and Rugby from HB Studios said here in New Zealand that EA don't care about the product that they are putting on shelves just as long as they sell X number of units.

Untill a company that cares like Konami and Sidhe here in NZ starts making cricket games then don't bother not that Konami would make a cricket game but someone like them that strives for gameplay and couldn't give a stuff about graphics and real names because they come later when you have everybody buying the game.

Is there a quote of this on the internet, or was it on radio, in a magazine etc

I guess I only buy them for the licenses......so fun to play with real teams

The guy has a cheek then doesn't he?

Both Rugby and Cricket are very, very poor games - and both came from his development house. EA had very little influence over the development of either projects aside from settinga timeframe for their release, and handling the publishing aspects. The fault for the paucity of the games lies squarely at the feet of HB - not EA.

Don't get me wrong, I am sick of EA as well - their quality assurance department needs to be sacked for allowing those two disgraceful games through the door, and they're idea of customer support is just a joke. But when you look at the undoubted quality of the Tiger Woods, NBA, NHL and NFL franchises you have to question how they could get Cricket, FIFA and Rugby so wrong - the answer lies in the developers I feel, not the publishers...

Agreed, Scatter...it's something we've known for a long time...EA simply doesn't give a toss about their customers...but i tell you what, a new fanbase is coming along....you're going to see in the next couple of years people finally waking up and NOT buying Fifa, NOT buying any 2-bit games made under the disgraceful name of EA sports (apart from the established US hit games e.g. NBA, NHL, NFL etc.), and HB for my money have a really tarnished rep now...i can't see myself ever buying a game from them again...

You have to wonder at some people don't you? I know EA think most consumers are sheep and they'll just flock over to the new release shelf and buy that flashy ol' EASports Hurling 2005 or EASports Cheese Rolling 2004, but consumers are becoming harder to please when it comes to entertainment. It will only take one dedicated band of like-minded people to come up with something...say, a cricket sim for example that oozes with realism, to drop them back in the pack. EASports are the Microsoft of the games market. Sorry Bill, I take that back. Even you have a sort of decent support centre.
