Cricket 22 General Discussion thread (Use bug report thread for issues/bugs/crashes | Patch notes in first post)

They should really give EA another chance, if they want to that is. They are making a comeback with Golf again which is exiting. BA needs competition.

There is no way EA are getting back into cricket but stranger things have happened. Maybe them losing the Fifa license means they find it worthwhile investing in an official game in another sport.

They haven't 'lost' the license. They told FIFA they didn't need them when FIFA wanted a better deal because of the billions EA makes from in-game gambling.

That… does mean they have lost the license though as they have decided to not sign a new deal for the trademark. :p FIFA could be giving the license to any new developer now (which is never happening though at the rate they’re expecting).

In any case though, EA’s track record with sports games in general is not… ideal. You would get AAA quality but the gameplay may not be what people think it would be.

EA games are appalling. Have been since they "invented" micro-transactions. Those of you that think they'd do a better job of a cricket game are mad as a box if frogs. It ain't 2006 anymore.
Weren't people a while back wishing 2k would do cricket? Imagine paying $90 plus then having to pay another $50 to get your player semi-decent with their vc crap.

I understand the sentiment, competition can create better games but when a global conglomerate comes in, they want the monopoly of income, not the competitive nature to improve games. Look at what happened to the golf club devs being bought out. Why create a studio for a market gap in your portfolio when you can buy competition out and eliminate it all together and get the monopoly.

It’s been so long since I played one of their NBA games but from what I know whilst their career mode is riddled with terrible micro transactions, isn’t their single player content generally solid? There are still bugs and gameplay issues for sure that I’ve heard but the core gameplay loop along with the commentary, presentation all seemed fine to me? MyLeague also seemed to be good. There’s plenty of teams and options to customise the game too (at least from what I remember). The only bugbear I do have is their lack of interest in bringing the next gen update to PCs.

EA’s titles do not even seem to have that sort of gameplay for single player modes. Their career mode is completely unrealistic and downright hilarious for how braindead a lot of the gameplay there is (reserve players throwing fits for not being selected for final cup games for one, unrealistic and sometimes inaccurate expectations leading you to getting low grades despite victories). The core gameplay loop is also poor. Everything feels extremely arcade right down to the lack of real weight or the inept defending mechanics.

If they were to say make a cricket game, do not be surprised if you can find yourself smashing boundaries or playing quite aggressively in test cricket easily. I’m not saying it is impossible in Cricket 22 but at least there is a semblance of a challenge there. Do not be surprised if bowling is treated like Fifa’s defending, an afterthought that is nerfed or made meaningless because runs are what attract everyone and hence every facet of the game must be geared towards it. I’d bet that their version of Ultimate Team could be even bigger than Fifa’s ingame given that the number of batsmen always will be more than forwards who always are the stars in Fifa.

Micro-transactions should be banned, at least in games that are not 18+, but how would EA's CEO get a third yacht

There'a an option in MyLeague “normalise played to sim minutes" or something like that, so you can play games that last 2 minutes per quarter, and your stats would be adjusted as if you had played 48 minutes. So if you play 24-minute games, your stats would be doubled. Statistics are a really fun part of basketball, so it's a great option. However, that same, simple setting is not available in MyCareer :facepalm
So you have to play 48-minute games in MyCareer for your stats to be realistic and fun to go through. It's literally impossible to finish a whole career with realistic stats.

Can we have a VS PACE MOVEMENT (For all kind of movements i-e inswing, outswing, leg cutter and offcutter and seam) proficiency in player's proficiency tab? Perhaps increase the impact of players proficiency in terms of gameplay? i-e players really struggle to time the ball when it falls under their weaknesses? An awkward shot animation shall trigger if the players skills are low and the user timing is also off , same for the AI as well when its batting.

For that we need to have awkward shot animations for all the shots in the game , Perhaps in Cricket 24?

Anyone still playing Big XI? Hope the cross platform thing comes and the users increase for frequent matches

Anyone getting "awaiting sign in" Freeze and crash to desktop error on steam? Logged a ticket long back in BA support. I think they're doing an "investigation" as thoroughly as the great Sherlock and Hercules poirot together would have done. Any support here?
