Got the game on Saturday despite the general negative feedback seen here. My experience has not been as bad as I was expecting. The new shot animations look pretty cool and batting feels much refined and smooth. I have encountered a few bugs which have already reported multiple times here (overthrows, dropped catches and fielding issues), but I am having fun playing. Played a quick Ten10 (won the match by 30 odd runs as Eng playing against Aus) and then started a career. I had selected Pro as Batting difficulty in career but I was finding difficult to get into double digits, so swallowed my pride and dropped down the difficulty level to the one lower than Pro and my career player now plays some amazing shots.
My pet peeve with these games still exists, unfortunately. It takes too much time on PS4 to load the games when playing in career mode. I have reported this in the past during DBC17 and Ashes Cricket days.
Beside this, it is the same story with BA every release post DBC14 -
1. Rushed release to meet business commitments. Releases typically have no major/ground-breaking change compared to the previous iteration.
2. Inherently, the game gets leaked and streamed before the Day 1 patch hits.
3. People complain about the bugs in the video, some others ask to wait for Day 1 patch (like it is going to make any major difference)
4. Release day comes, Day 1 patch comes (sometimes not on Day 1 on certain platforms) - we realise most of the issues seen are still there on Day 1 patch.
5. BA promises to release multiple patches and fix all issues we are seeing
6. They release several patches and fix a lot of bugs - but they leave behind several other bugs which have existed in the base since long. Not only this - new bugs crop up through this rapid patch-release cycle.
7. After a few patches, BA calls it a day and starts preparing for the next iteration. The loop continues.
The sad part is that, as a cricket-lover, I know I need to be treated better for the top money we are paying, but I also know I will keep buying their games because what is the alternative?
