Cricket 22 General Discussion thread (Use bug report thread for issues/bugs/crashes | Patch notes in first post)

I own PS4 pro. I tried batting style 6 in career mode I couldn't play on offside at all also timing was not good and felt very springy and not controlled. I feel that style is for tailenders? I deleted my career and started a new one with other batting style.
Dang!!!!!! I progressed so much, lol. But thanks for the feedback guys :)

Does anyone else miss the colour mixer from earlier academies or is it just me? I know this one makes it easier to select the same shade, but pre-made shades are so limited, sometimes you cannot get the shade you want with this.

I felt driving on the offside was difficult for good length balls (on hard and medium pace pitch) as the drive animation was suited for driving only on low bounce pitches.

What made it better?
Well I was mostly batting and that has always been better. But I thought the AI used their all rounders better than c19, field changes were less frequent (still too frequent but better), and the medium pacer seemed to have more zip and be less of a ball ache.

When bowling, there was no stupid run outs and less of the awful shotmaking like backfoot pull to a full ball outside off stump.

Also felt the short pitched ball was more of a threat than in 19. In 19 bouncers you’d get some tap but occasionally they’d get out... here when the direction and timing was right it felt like a genuine threat.

So mostly subjective really but there was very little that really jumped out as horrible.

I mean there was next to nothing that was a leap forward from 19... and stuff like the AI leg spinner firing in wides from around the wicket carried over.

But I didn’t hate it, and that’s progress.

Spot on... the new one saves time and gives you basic colours, but the old one gives you more options to fine tune colours.

Maybe BA can give us a way to have both options available. You can select the new tool for quick editing basic colours or you can select the old tool for fine tuning colours.

What slider settings did you change?

Got the game on Saturday despite the general negative feedback seen here. My experience has not been as bad as I was expecting. The new shot animations look pretty cool and batting feels much refined and smooth. I have encountered a few bugs which have already reported multiple times here (overthrows, dropped catches and fielding issues), but I am having fun playing. Played a quick Ten10 (won the match by 30 odd runs as Eng playing against Aus) and then started a career. I had selected Pro as Batting difficulty in career but I was finding difficult to get into double digits, so swallowed my pride and dropped down the difficulty level to the one lower than Pro and my career player now plays some amazing shots.

My pet peeve with these games still exists, unfortunately. It takes too much time on PS4 to load the games when playing in career mode. I have reported this in the past during DBC17 and Ashes Cricket days.

Beside this, it is the same story with BA every release post DBC14 -

1. Rushed release to meet business commitments. Releases typically have no major/ground-breaking change compared to the previous iteration.
2. Inherently, the game gets leaked and streamed before the Day 1 patch hits.
3. People complain about the bugs in the video, some others ask to wait for Day 1 patch (like it is going to make any major difference)
4. Release day comes, Day 1 patch comes (sometimes not on Day 1 on certain platforms) - we realise most of the issues seen are still there on Day 1 patch.
5. BA promises to release multiple patches and fix all issues we are seeing
6. They release several patches and fix a lot of bugs - but they leave behind several other bugs which have existed in the base since long. Not only this - new bugs crop up through this rapid patch-release cycle.
7. After a few patches, BA calls it a day and starts preparing for the next iteration. The loop continues.

The sad part is that, as a cricket-lover, I know I need to be treated better for the top money we are paying, but I also know I will keep buying their games because what is the alternative?

Wow, we have officially moved into "slightly less than utterly bleak" territory! :lol

Try batting style 3. You can play more on off side.

Why should this be the case? Batting seems so limited still and as a whole not much different from older games. There should be full 360 placement by now and more shot varient. Things like touch/placement shots and just something beyond the basic feel, or maybe differentiate the styles so they actually feel like a different type of batsmen instead of a few animation changes

@Pat Hey look a true og :p yeah despite all of us crying the game isn't super bad it's just frustrating as they could have done better because feels like at its core it's good. Batting does feel hard sometimes and I'm really struggling to score runs in ODIs but that's more due to the fact that everything just gets stopped by fielders no matter how well I time it. Shades of EA cricket... Anyway like you said what's the alternative, I want them to abuse me :D release a game yearly I say, sell us dlc for new animations etc just go full micro transaction idk why they don't but I know I'd buy it and if it helps then why not

Unfortunately it’s seems a lot of the fielding issues have carried over from cricket 19 to Cricket 22 I made a 5 min video going over these issues ( not including wicketkeepers issues just the fielders. I will do a seperate video on keeper issues )
here is the link if you guys what to have a look
Better to raise as ticket in support forums. That's helpful for all of us

Try to use difficulty sliders

On overthrows, this is limited to me batting vs AI so if you're getting it in career etc. I'm not sure but if you start to run and then cancel, the AI WILL take a shy at the stumps regardless of whether there's a realistic chance of running, and this leads to overthrows. Avoid this, and you won't get overthrows.

If it's happening in career, I can only suggest reducing AI run rate, and the running will be less aggressive and that will probably help overthrows too: I know when I reduced AI timing, the annoying run-out slow mo triggers way less, so it makes sense the AI fielders would also be throwing at the stumps less.

A weird thing I spotted is on pitch wear. There is no wear at all during the day, but then you turn up the next morning and there's wear. It's a bit of cheap cop out. The wear looks good, but going from pristine at the end of day 1 to foot marks at the start of day 2 looks weird.

I have the disc version of Cricket 22 for PS4. Can anyone help with the steps to get a PS5 upgrade of the game? I was able to place an order for the PS5 disc version during the restock today in India and expect to receive it by the 20th.
Thanks.
