Cricket 22 General Discussion thread (Use bug report thread for issues/bugs/crashes | Patch notes in first post)

I actually like the fact that timings are different for each action. I bowl in ProCam mode and like the fact that I need to make adjustments depending on the action of the bowler...it makes it more interesting and gives another element to the gameplay. If the timing is exactly the same for all actions, then the use of different actions is just an animation gloss that is not influenced at all by what you, as a player, do.
Yeah, I don't mind the issue of there being differences. But the newer/updated ones don't feel as fluid in the jump and release. Like @Kiko_97 I end up feeling out of step for a few deliveries.

Maybe I need to get used to them.

I've found the AI in longer games is generally better but you still get silly overthrows and the odd run out for no obvious reason. Run rate in Tests can be lowered slightly if you reskill batters and make them less aggressive. Bowling to left handers seem broken for almost all bowlers , although some seem much worse than others. Any ideas why and what skills we might tweak to help?

It's not a terrible game by any means but having bought every edition and DLC on day one since 2014, I really think these bugs should have been sorted by now. It doesn't help that Ross seems to take even the slightest criticism of his game very personally - it's almost like you are insulting one of his children...

Complete my first session of bowling. Some delightful wickets. Genuinely fun aside from the run rate. A few issues but honestly don't feel like anything that wasn't there in Cricket 19, maybe just with a newer animation.

Just waiting for Jack Leach to come in and score a century.

If they could fix the broadcast cam to be as consistent as it was in C19 I wouldn't mind as much, it struggles with Bumrah's action mostly but a few others are tricky too.

What did you have your RR set to?

Everything is on default. But the AI score a boundary every over, so add in no balls, wides and it begins to add up.

I've had one maiden in 46 overs.
Trying to remember what default is, I want to say it's around 35?

If so, that's too high for a test match. 18 or is a better sweet spot, give or take.

First innings completed. Would make a good ODI scorecard.

Range of dismissals very good though. Broad tried a Kevin Pietersen flick and it went down the throat of fine leg. Leach smeared one to cover. I think three caught behinds were under/inside edges. Would really prefer to see some more going to slips (had one dropped in the slips).

The biggest issue is the AI batting boundary bollocks. 8th wicket partnership nonsense too, but not overly excessive. Prepared to let it off as a frustrating partnership that happens IRL sometimes. I have got a copy of my match data prior to Jack Leach coming to the crease as I anticipated him to play a game-changing innings.

The Starc and Rabada actions feel really odd when it comes to timing. I bowled 18 no balls in six overs with Seales and the Rabada action. Gabriel with Starc; I think I might have managed one or two balls that weren't weak release.

The run out wasn't terrible. Tried to steal a single and Hameed was slow to get going. If that is a regular occurence then it's an issue but it didn't feel unrealistic.

One instance of overthrows I think.

Given everything I've read over the last month I was expecting a bad experience, but it was no worse than Cricket 19 - which I enjoyed for the most part, aside from AI run rates.

I think if the broadcast cam follows the ball no matter how high it goes up in the air when a lofted shot is played, it will offer a more realistic experience.

I was playing the game on steam & also watching the bbl game live today on TV and realised there are so many skiers (6s and catches) in real as well, its just that the cam on TV zoom out and follow the ball properly.

But right now in the game the ball just disappears from view as if it has gone above the clouds.

ProCam for bowling, despite being my preference, is also problematic as it won't follow the ball at all. You won't know that there was a catch at midwicket or cover until the fielding team celebrates because it all happens off camera.

Out of nowhere, I’ve just had the inability to cancel a run bug hit me twice with the scores tied in a Test match. I’ve also had their two batsmen find themselves at the same end (Three run outs in innings) and had an aggressive shot go to the moon and back… and be caught! This Test match really has displayed some of the great things about all Big Ant games but also the annoyances!

I didn't spot it at first either tbh.

It's hidden under - Play - Middle Tab Competition - then right stick to your right - and you'll find it tucked away as the last option.

Hope this helps
Thanks will have a look, couldn’t see anything last night

Default is a joke. Ramp run rate right down.
I had my testing hat on but had a genuinely good time. Wasn't expecting perfection. It feels like test cricket for 80-90% of the time and then the AI will belt you for four. Once I said: 'ok that's a pain in the arse' I was able to enjoy the good stuff. Now, if it's still the same in six months I'd probably just not play.
