Cricket 22 General Discussion thread (Use bug report thread for issues/bugs/crashes | Patch notes in first post)

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I'm finding it near impossible to take wickets in test matches. No matter who I bowl, what types of deliveries I bowl, or what fields I set, wickets are few and far between. The AI seem to refuse to edge the ball too, just 101 plays and misses instead.

Been playing a Test match as England, against Ireland, on a green pitch, using @Rumple43's England sliders. I posted the Day 1 scorecard yesterday in the Cricket 22: Stories, Scorecards thread. I had great fun batting and the sliders certainly helped with that, giving a realistic feel to the gameplay. Posted 285 batting first.

Bowling though, is when I really lost my shit and the fielders certainly don't help, neither does the AI's refusal to block the ball and instead leave it or just play T20 type shots.

Another big nuisance was having to quit and go back into the match multiple times as every now and again the ball would stop in the outfield and every fielder would just stand in their position and refuse to run after the ball.
I’m riding the same boat mate, took me 141 overs to bowl Australia out and this is happening quite often now. Also, the AI (regardless of the run rate which is set to 16) is lofting left right and Center every over. Certainly some shit happened with the AI. Would avoid playing tests till the next patch comes out and try out ODI’s.

Thanks for the heads up mate, it's good to get some clarification that it's not just me facing this issue. I think I'll take that advice and stick to limited overs matches for now.

Is it just me seeing that off side shots are back to how it used to be before Ross said they balanced them few patches back? I played 10 off and 5 cover drives and I couldn't get any ball in the gap. Cut shots are useless since day 1 so....not going there

Not sure if anyone else has had this, but I was fielding and got a edge to the keeper I pushed the button to catch it but it went so quick I didn’t push the button in time and it hit his glove and ballooned behind first slip and another button popped up I pushed that and the slip dived and caught it.
Looked great but not sure if it was a bug.
lol if that's a bug please keep it in. I like the sound of that. I remember in the past games, sometimes the ball would hit a fielder and rebound to another and get caught out. :thumbs

Try lofting you can hit all day, better to close the game, it's boring and unbalanced, regret how much time I wasted on this game.

I've just noticed as well, they've got the Irish ODI/T20 kits wrong, they're both missing the collar's in game as a standard v-neck.

They do take a bit of practice again if you've had a break from C22 recently or you're really used to C19 which was definitely easier to pierce the gaps.

I always play with the ideal input power boost & the power boost timing window itself set to zero as I did with previous iterations. With the ball having less initial energy off the bat it definitely makes it harder to pierce any smaller gaps as the fielders are quick to intercept & at first I struggled to get through. In some matches it can still be very tough but that's how I want it. It's definitely a little harder with all-rounders or bowlers too as they lack the shot skill/power of a specialist batsman or at least a batting all-rounder. (You could try increasing these sliders for a while until you re-adjust & then reduce again later.)

Lots of in game gym training between each match helps with a career player, especially with the attacking shot exercises, batting technique, & general fitness until you get levelled up in other ways.

Obviously I can't comment for every platform but the straight drives cover drives or square drives are actually working pretty well at the moment, (at least on the Xbox) :). I'm commenting with regards a career too, haven't played much of any other modes for the past 2 or 3 patches.

The lofted drives are actually easier than C19 too if you need to go over the top. Club level is easier but county or international obviously gets harder as the AI moves infielders up etc. or their fielder stats & coverage stats are just better. Precision shots aren't massively different to the attacking shots at present but try using them more to pierce gaps.

Footwork doesn't seem quite as linear as C19 was either if you're very used to C19. It's slightly more dynamic based on the line/length of each delivery so try making some finer adjustments to your footwork with each delivery too as that may help you to get more control to get through the gaps easier again. It may also help to try a batting control perk if you hadn't already. (I always found with C19 you just needed to put the footwork in the same place every time for any given shot & that's all that was required. With C22 you have to make adjustments to foot positioning each time to have finer control. (Or, is it just me PMSL ;)?????)

A square back foot drive through the extra cover to backwards point region is definitely broken in the same way the cover drive was for 5 weeks, & the back foot cut through point to backwards point is also broken too. (They all just ping off the bat straight to backwards point every single time in the same manner the broken cover drive used to behave. They've also been broken for nigh on 3 weeks now so it's looking like it's going to take another 5+ weeks just to fix another of the most commonly used shots in cricket that desperately need a fix as the highest priority.). The standard cut shots were working reasonably well at one point then they broke them & no fix since. The late/fine cuts were definitely broken day 1 but they got a fix quite early on.

Give it a look & see what you think ;).

Good thing i observed today while human batting is that batter is playing ball little bit in the air if the shot is played too early.
Not sure if its because of modifiers or is it recently changed.

Yes that's how it should be - Play early and you chip it up in the air. Play late and you either end up edging it or missing it completely.

Earlier when the batsman ended up playing a ground shot late, the ball used to go in the air which doesn't make much sense.

Glad to hear it's been patched and much appreciated for taking the feedback from the community.

Now just waiting patiently till the backfoot cuts & drives are fixed as well.

Aggressive lofted shots definitely get clothed straight up if mis-timed now which is good, it's how it should be.

I don't use them much but apparently grounded aggressive shots are popping up a little too easily for some if mis-timed but there should be some sort of penalty for bad timing :).

Oh and to add to my licensed kit gripes. West Indies lost their Sandals sponsorship, wonder if either will be fixed.

Can any one confirm if they have fixed trophies achievements unlocks , like I won the CPL on ps5 but didn’t get the achievement trophy. Thanks

can someone pls guide how to play advanced grounded shot in arcade mode?
