Cricket 24 - General Discussion

Are any of Waste's C22 bats working on C24 or is there an issue there?

I'm wanting to start a career but there's no point for me if teams/bats etc are all over the place.

Also the commentator calls all the downloaded teams the wrong name. Which isn't ideal!
It’s as if they have altered the list of names. I downloaded the teams I made in 22 and every player and team had a name that was almost 1 next to the one it should have been.

Should be able to fix it though, go to ‘Commentary’ and press Y (Xbox) even if it doesn’t say on screen that this is an option, it still works

Logos don’t transfer over the same sadly.

I’ve found a work around but it was a bit of a pain. Give me a shout if you want to give it a try though.

I was actually thinking about bowling, while I love the mechanics (of pace bowling, twirling the stick to get spin can get in the bin) there could be more thought to it.

Watch county cricket and there's guys bowling mid 70mph consistently. I assume a big part of that is they are looking for accuracy, the assistance from pitches and Dukes ball. A lot of these you will see play The Hundred or international cricket and their speeds are often increased. Could be speed guns - but I noted that Josh Tongue's speeds were similar anyway. But I assume, they are getting less from the white Kookaburra ball and looking to get extra pace - also they aren't bowling 20 overs in a day, maybe two two over spells in a T20.

So I think you could introduce a 'Precise Ball', alongside the 'Effort Ball' and a 'Stock Ball'. Precise Ball might drop the speed down by a little but makes timing easier. Effort Ball should allow greater speed but require better timing to achieve swing. Stock Ball there should be room for missing your line and length.

I'd say a big difference between elite bowler and very good domestic bowlers is their ability to bowl a good 'Stock Ball' - good pace and ability to move it. There's lots of bowlers bowling 75mph and below that clean up in county cricket and while they might do well in a test match in England (or West Indies, see Kyle Mayers) a guy running in bowling that quick in Rawalpindi is going to get nothing.

Likewise, elite batters are more likely to be those who have can handle higher pace but perhaps not always Mark Wood pace.

Of course none of the would particularly resolve my biggest problem with bowling which is the not knowing if what you are doing is good or bad. Is a batter playing and missing because I'm bowling a bad ball? Are they not scoring because I'm bowling well or because I've blocked all the scoring options for the AI with the field?

I think a key part should be in assessing the pitch, conditions and opposition in order to formulate a plan. Is the pitch going to offer assistance? Will the conditions allow for the ball to swing? What sort of length is the optimum length to bowl on a particular pitch? And the big one what should I do against the batter facing me.

There should be rewards/encouragement for bowling the correct line and length and this shouldn't be super simple.

Just woke up so could well be rambling.

Love this Point , I hope B.A one day understands this Stuff and implant it in the game But I doubt That's gonna happen anytime sooner

When I emailed B.A about Bat stickers they told me to Manually adjust and it will work , wow what an answer instead of Fixing the issue

I have played a few games now.. looking for the under hood improvements..

And fielding quite frankly is an insult
The more I play and bowl in particular, the more that side shuffle to let the ball pass shows and annoys me.

If there’s an issue in physics and graphics and need to represent the ball beating the fielder, why on earth would THAT be the solution rather than arcing the ball… beggars belief
