Cricket 24 - General Discussion

Back on Cricket 19 when I ran a simmed tournament I did a deep dive on the stats. Comparing them with real life, the top order players just bat for longer and score a higher percentage of runs. So, if this is still the case it wouldn't surprise me. There were a few other odd quirks too. Can't remember them all, but pretty sure spinners dominated.

Just looking at the results there was a good spread of results regardless of batting and plenty of wickets were lost.

Of course when I say 'simmed' in this context it's running the match as AI v AI. I'm assuming it produces fairly different results to just external simming. It was still predictable at times but we also had many great moments. Such as Pujarageddon at Mar-a-Lago when @Wavelberry outgunned @passwordistaco in possibly the greatest cricket match ever.

I remember this tournament well for all the wrong reasons!:lol:lol

Would have been super happy if I would be getting such varied results in career mode. Right now T20 mode is all about winning toss.

Those adboards ... why was Pujara bowling the super over? Lot of questions

Well, the match was at Mar-a-Lago (home of Trump's Fringe team), so it was promoting the Trump/Pence campaign. The DPRK was also sponsoring and hosting matches so Kim Jong Un (the original Say Jhah) was keen to promote himself. Pujara bowling... you'd have to ask @Wavelberry :lol

After more hours messing about I put AI on veteran and striker timing on 30 and got some beauty looking near misses plus my most satisfying wicket to date bowled straight through the gate mark wood good length fast delivery. Can’t remember ever getting one like this 94815c7a-daa0-495b-9d82-54da7db10fcf.jpeg

Two issues that I haven't seen mentioned so far.

First, the "footwork required" option in the custom difficulty sliders doesn't seem to work. I played 22 with this set to "off" because I'm hopeless at the game but in 24 it doesn't work.

Second, there really aren't any options to be a part-time bowler. Whether at the start of your career you choose specialist bowler, all-rounder, batting all-rounder or bowling all-rounder, you're always bowling the maximum. My recent attempt was as a batting all-rounder at a club in Kenya and I bowled all 4 overs of the first T20, all 10 of my overs in the first one day, and more overs than any other bowler in the first three-day. I'd love to have the odd bowl, but other than vecoming captain there isn't an option for this.

One of those odd things. In a match the AI doesn't seem to use a batter/part-timer unless there aren't enough bowlers. I saw a wicket keeper opening the bowling on a YT video (he wasn't designated keeper but is a player that has never bowled in professional cricket). However, simming, it seems you do get part timers bowling more often.

Frustrating I find. I'd love to come on for a short spell in the middle of a test, without bowling more than anyone else. Find bowling to be a really frustrating experience but it does break up the batting gameplay nicely. Oh well.

Yeah, puts me off playing career mode as anything other than a batter or bowler.

It would be nice to have career pathway (if proficiencies were set up differently) where, as a batter, you could elect to be a part timer and slowly develop bowling skills (or a T20 keeper for example). Likewise, as a bowler you might opt to develop as a nightwatchman or pinch hitter. Could give some variety to the experience without losing focus on the main line career.

Have been requesting for parttimer option since ashes 19 days. No point dreaming such stuffs. Once I become the captain I take the luxury of giving few overs in Odis and t20s and occasionally in tests, that's the only option.

Playing a custom Knock Out Tournament for Five5 with all associate teams.

Pujara was my most effective bowler in the end in the whole tournament. It was here his legend was born (before he'd then go on to beat a whole team of Alastair Cooks 2-1 in a test series).
