Cricket 24 - General Discussion

Does the batsman do that horrible slide across to make a gap for the ball to pass him? Or are these natural bowleds?
Natural mate that’s what suprised me was the first time I’ve taken a wicket and gone WOW and then to get another which looked even better was great. Looks so much better beating a block that the silly wafts they do sometimes

Still playing on Veteran strike rate 30?

Look at these numbers after the league matches are over in the t20 competition. When a batsman is scoring this good their ratings will sky rocket.

Look at the poor fate of the bowlers in the competition, even international bowlers are averaging worse the rookies in real life. last IPL all good bowlers averaged below 25 and here none of them are even close to 25.

I hope @MattW , @JNT BA can look into this and bring some variety to the simulation of t20 matches.

I almost made my mind to purchase this game.
But i have few questions for knowledgeable guys here.
Is online matchmaking easy?
is active online playerbase enough for online play till next edition of game come out?

If you are using the default sliders it will play like that. I've seperate sliders for different formats and it gives me variety of results for first class and limited over matches. T20 no matter what I do the simulation is broken. Try putting slider or run rate to 18/20 for first class/test matches and see if you can see any difference.
tbh it's not so much the overall run-rate, more the feeling that I am not bowling on a bowler friendly pitch. it definitely felt before that a grassy wicket was good to bowl on, this may as well have been astro-turf.

I was one of the very few who thought maybe we should give the crabbing animation in the fielding a chance, initially.

After having played two or three limited over games last night I just can't possibly feel that way any longer. It's of absolutely no assistance to the fielder whatsoever and at times looks ridiculous and stalling to the point of being detrimental to the game.

I see what they were trying to do. Have the fielder align themselves in front of the oncoming ball. That just does not happen.

And if it was to correct the fielder facing the wrong way and throwing the ball back in, then it is a total failure. I have the fielder face backwards throwing the ball at the stumps many times in every game.

That looks so ridiculous, that I would rather they suddenly have the animation flip and the fielder instantly be facing the correct direction and then throw it back in. A sudden jerky animation frame change would look better than the player facing completely the wrong direction and the ball going towards the stumps. Ideally they'd just speedily animate the player rotating around in a normal animation (even if unnaturally quickly) and then throwing the ball in.

After all that I guess you can tell what I am hoping for to be in amongst the changes for tonight's patch.

The worst animation in the game for me is the frictionless slide across the ground. I cannot fathom how that ever got included. Find me a video of anything remotely like that happening on a cricket field ever (even with friction, of course). I got a wicket yesterday with a catch in the gully where instead of diving to their left the fielder did that slide.

I'd lost track of the overs and forgot to make a bowling change and take the new ball... suddenly saw it was 81 overs, so took off Emburey, bought on Small and took the new ball. FIRST BALL of Small's over (so first delivery with the new ball) I get the catch to gully. This should have been an excellent moment, but there's that slide. Ugh.

I believe it is something BA has broken while fixibg other issues. When the game first came out, it was a lot more rewarding when consistently bowling in the channel... Lots of play & miss, inside edge etc, especially on Green tracks.
Maybe they broke something while making AI more robust against spin.

I played five overs of a test match. AI dropping & running on every single defensive shot unless a close in fielder is there. 1 run out...
