The superbly talented Jayden Seales claimed two wickets in the very first over of the match by dismissing Divan la Cock and Craig Williams for ducks to immediately put Namibia on the backfoot. That did not last too long with skipper Gerhard Erasmus and Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton assuming command by putting up 118 runs in quick time for the 4th wicket; the former's mauling of T20 legend Dwayne Bravo in the 8th over was a sight to behold. After their separation however, Namibia kept on losing regular wickets to be bowled out for 249 with their two biggest hitters in David Wiese and JJ Smit flattering to deceive.

Evin Lewis banished any hopes of a Namibian fightback the moment he banished the first ball of the innings out of the stadium. He carted the spirited Namibians for a 32-ball half-century even as Lendl Simmons looked increasingly washed up at the other end. Following his dismissal for a 53-ball 73, Jan Frylinck breathed some life back into the contest by removing Simmons (not really) and Nicholas Pooran. Enter skipper Kieron Pollard, who after initially biding his time in the middle returned to his old ways of smacking the ball into the stands, and finished the match with a six to finish unbeaten on 62 off 61 balls as Trinidad celebrated their first victory of the competition.
