Cricket Australia has enough of Twenty20

I love how because India won the Twenty20 World Cup its there favourite format and they love it. If Australia won the Twenty20 World Cup, well TBH, I wouldn't give a stuff because I didn't watch any of the Twenty20 World Cup, right from the start.

At school today, all the kids that don't like cricket were like, "Woah! I love that T20 stuff! it's awesome!"

I'm like "Yeah, well I think different."

Twenty20 is only good when you can watch 2 or 3 games in succession.

I always get dissapointed with just one Twenty20 game like the Aus vs NZ one last night because the game's finished before you know it.

On a side note, India deserved to win the Twenty20 world cup because they played spinners which is the logical thing to in Twenty20. We have brainless selectors & authority so we had no chance.
I dont think so.I think they are the best selectors.

ODI cricket and Tests are far better then T20's still, for me at least.

Take a chill pill. Did you not notice the ':p' smiley?

Its still damn annoying. Its not like when people say; why arent crowds coming to Tests anymore?

We say;
"Because Australia are number one at it :p" all the time..

If Australia want to ignore it fair enough, all it will do is allow other countrys to have a better chance of overtaking them. Half of the people at my cricket club got into it because of twenty20 but obviously thats because I'm from the twenty20 capital :D

If any of you watched the Ind/Pak test series you would have seen that the crowd was in a large number.

You will always have crowds for Test, ODi or 20-20.

20-20 have more crowd because it takes max 4 hours for whole event. So it makes sense to watch something like this with your Girlfriend.

Australia by holding 20-20 at bouncy WACA will definately kill enthusiasm for it in Australia.

Why is it that this thread has been such an Aussie bash? This is an ICC decision that we are agreeing with. It's important that we don't overuse Twenty20 because it is affecting other forms of the game. It has its place as a seperate form of the game but it is by no means the be all and end all of future cricket.

We must safeguard all forms of the game, not just push ahead with one and neglect the rest.

50-50 becomes boring after 20 overs till 40th over.

20-20 is future and we should accept it. 50-50 was greated with same denial when it started but then became the most popular brand of cricket. Test cricket also benefited from ODI in sense that game became fast and more results have started to come. Therefore to say 20-20 will eat Test cricket is wrong and anyone who thinks so should not watch test cricket anymore.
First of all, it is called One Day International Cricket, not 50-50. And if that is your opinion then I feel sorry for you because you obviously have no appreciation for anything that doesn't move at full pace. Personally I find that it's just as exciting watching struggles between bat and ball as quick wickets and big sixes. I enjoy slower cricket because it is interesting, not necessarily as exciting as Twenty20 but I firmly believe that it brings out better cricket from all players.

If you all are so convinced that Australians hate Twenty20 because we didn't win the World Cup then good for you, enjoy it. Anything can happen in a Twenty20, and whilst it may be good for competition, like I said before, it does not bring a true representation of cricket and how it was created. It is a lot more luck than any other form, the 5 day match means that a side can begin a match terribly but recover and stage a comeback. It means that side needs to do so much more than hit a big score quickly in the space of a few hours. It is a true test of a team and player's abilities over 5 long, tough days.

If you can't appreciate it and think it's boring, then it's not for you, but that it is, for me at least, what cricket is truly about. I'm not asking for Twenty20 to be destroyed, but I'm asking for moderation.

And for the record, anyone who thinks Australia are not embracing Twenty20 cricket have got no idea, because if you have a look at the crowds in both domestic and international Twenty20 games, you'll see that they are incredibly high for domestic, and are on the larger side for international too.

It says something that the people who enjoy cricket enough to post on forums about their opinions and discuss it with others, are the ones who aren't into Twenty20, doesn't it?

Mate I know what is ODI and dont need someone like you to tell me. India plays more ODIs then any team in world and even if you ask 2 year old kid in here what is ODI he will tell ya.

Keep your knowledge with yourself.

Well you call it 50-50 you are implying you don't know that it is actually an ODI.

Someone like me, what is that supposed to mean? You're the one who called it 50-50, which is not a name for anything, nor does anyone use it. The fact that India plays lots of ODI's doesn't change the fact that you said it. Anyway, it's not particularly relevant, if you read the rest of the post you'll find my main points.

Lol at bashing him for calling it 50-50 cricket. If you look at it, Twenty20 international cricket is also an ODI, because it is an international cricket game that is played in one day. 50 over cricket was called ODI or LOI simply because it was played over one day and not 5. That's obviously going to change now that there is another version that is being played in one day.
