Cricket Australia has enough of Twenty20

50-50 becomes boring after 20 overs till 40th over.

20-20 is future and we should accept it. 50-50 was greated with same denial when it started but then became the most popular brand of cricket. Test cricket also benefited from ODI in sense that game became fast and more results have started to come. Therefore to say 20-20 will eat Test cricket is wrong and anyone who thinks so should not watch test cricket anymore.

No its not, teams are only allowed 7 (I think) T20's a year, and it seemed overused this year because we had the T20 WC :D

I love how because India won the Twenty20 World Cup its there favourite format and they love it. If Australia won the Twenty20 World Cup, well TBH, I wouldn't give a stuff because I didn't watch any of the Twenty20 World Cup, right from the start.

Now I bet you if the Aussies win the next T20 WC then they'll be like 'Well, we werent used to the format but now we're fully adjusted and enjoyeing T20'......I will roar if they say that.

No I wouldn't. Do you see me bragging about ODI's months after the World Cup? No. I didn't even watch the World Cup let alone post in those threads. So stop calling us sore losers and that if we won we would be in favour of it.

Sorry I didn't mean Australian Supporters in general, I meant the Australian Cricket Board/Cricket Australia....

Cricket Australia are a despicable organisation, almost to the scale of the BCCI in the greed stakes, but they have it right. International 20/20s usually pale in comparison to Domestic ones. I cannot quite place why, maybe it is the thrill of seeing that country pro who's never been that great get his moment of glory or perhaps because big contracts aren't on the line or the pressures of a huge crowd affecting a players' performance.

I'm tired of these ruthless attacks by cricket conservatives on 20twenty.

20Twenty is an amazing spectacle, why stop it from growing? If it affects test matches and ODIs...well thats just b/c of supply and demand.

Becoz india won it.:p

What an awesome reply!!!! Very true!

20-20 is very interesting, and the intensity has the potential to remain almost throughout the game. 50 overs have started becoming boring during the periods that you have said above. for the purists, test cricket will continue to remain the ultimate. but among the commercial formats, 20-20 is the best and better than ODI's (at least for me!).

We (India) are not as foolish as you make us out to be!

are you an economics student? same pinch... i did it pretty recently.

i agree! if one format is interesting and has the potential to eat into the success of a longer format, then make the longer format more interesting instead of cutting short the new 'n interesting format. give the people what they want, instead of trying to make them watch the games that you want them to watch.

ODI cricket and Tests are far better then T20's still, for me at least.

I think the aussie players hate it cause CA makes them wear those awfully gay outfits

The aussies have not changed their stance on 20/20 once - they have never liked it as a full blown international format and their reasons are good....reasons they've expressed right from the word go.

It has nothing to do with losing the world cup or the fact india won it - heck as an aussie i can't give 2 hoots about winning or losing to india because there's no traditional rivalry like we have againt england, south africa and NZ..which has a lot to do with other sports. The reason we cared for a moment was because we hadn't won in india for a while...but that's done, and the rivalry has again fallen away. I think the reason why most other countries enjoy it is because Australia didn't win...it seems that the only universally praised things in cricket these days are events where Australia loses - like the 2001 india series, 2005 ashes and 2007 T20.

Twenty20 is only good when you can watch 2 or 3 games in succession.

I always get dissapointed with just one Twenty20 game like the Aus vs NZ one last night because the game's finished before you know it.

On a side note, India deserved to win the Twenty20 world cup because they played spinners which is the logical thing to in Twenty20. We have brainless selectors & authority so we had no chance.

Most people like Twenty-20's bc its exciting, not bc Aussie loses. The 50 over game has been suffering for a while (which is why they keep adding rules to it...to get it to be more interesting), while Tests are aimed at cricket enthusiasts. However, the average person loves 20-20's bc its extremely exciting. I'm sure some people like it b/c there is no clear "champion" team, but thats a small portion of the entire crowd.
