Your Cricket Cricket Club Discussion

Had nets on Friday and bowled amazingly. Had nets on Tuesday and Wednesday and picked up about 7 wickets in each of the one hour sessions. However on Friday I picked up 12 wickets in 30 balls(6 overs). I got 5 wickets in my first 9 balls and I ended up getting our school/county opener for a duck(he kept hitting me after that...). I wasn't just getting wickets on the offstump either, hitting every stump in my first 3 wickets. Motivation for me now is high and I really wanna play cricket this year. If I don't move then I will either go to Sleaford CC or go to Caythorpe & Fullbeck although both teams are of similar quality.

I wouldn't ant a wicket on anything other than offstump.

I just turned up for nets at my club, well at the place where the indoor ones are held and they weren't on. I'm not playing for them again, I could have gone to a better club earlier and improved my chances of actually doing something earlier but I stayed regardless, mainly because of mates instead of loyalty but still :p So a new team for me now.

I am working on an idea. Bowling with a new ball, Pulling the ball to "out-swing" by placing the ball on the line of the middle stump and at a half volley, but, a difference of 4-6 yards from the stumps and getting it to nip back to hit the off-stump is quite great and is working out well with the test ball as well.

Had a well good net yesterday, bowled fast and I had one of those cheap balls that when they're brand new they swing yards. I was aiming on middle, and it would swing out to leg than back across to off, brilliant fun :p Batting was ok, didn't get out, just smashed it really but was worried about my new bat which obviously wasn't knocked in so i had to change it.

Been selected to play for my college in a charity Staff v Pupil cricket game. However, im still feeling the effects of some ligament damage in my ankle, so even though I am meant to be starting training for Droylsden, I hope to use this as a stepping stone on my road to recovery.

Bouncers! :p Sounds fun, we used to do this but they stopped it, some chavs probably stuck razor blades in the ball or something.

First game of the season tonight for my team. Im opening the batting so hopefully ill be in good knick.Beatutiful batting condinations blue sky no clouds bring on the season!

Bowlings getting a lot better now, really nippy today. Batting was ok, I'm good at slogging but can't defend in nets, I don't bat well in nets anyway I do it in the middle. Got a game on wednesday, can't wait.

Played my one and only warm up game, 59 in 59 balls against Brooke who play in Alliance one now. So third highest division in Norfolk.

Proper games at the weekend now though. Saturday in the 2's at home. And Sunday at home again, in the First Team cup.

Bowled so fast in nets today, vicious bouncer that connected with a batsmens face and got a wicket bowled off one of the best batsmen, bowlings getting faster and faster although it was my bounce and swing I was pleased with today. Last weeks game rained off but playing Wednesdy hopefully and they tried roping me in today to go halfway across the county as no-one would go but couldn't be bothered, knackered.

What a horrible start to the season for me. I was picked in the 2nd team (yay), and told I was going to bat at 3 (yay!!). So it was all looking good. During warm up however during the gentle jog, my left foot got stuck in the ground, so when I went to twist something had to give way and it was my knee. It made a loud enough crack that a couple of others heard it. :(

Going to find out exactly what I've done in the next couple of days hopefully.

I then had to watch us capitulate from 92-1 to 110 all out. :(

Well, played on saturday. We battered 'em by 90 odd runs, but it was my performance that really a put a downer on things. Well not performance, as I bowled as superbly as I could, but the luck that went against me was unreal. In my first over I had 2 drop catches put down, one to the keeper which was easy and one to mid off which was even easier. Then I got a caught and bowled, but I just oversteeped so it was called a no ball. It was only a no ball because I lifted my heel up. From then on in everytime they hit it it fell just short or just over the fielders, and everytime I bowled a beauty it was to good to find edge or stumps. In the end I finished up with 10 overs, 0 for 14. What really rubbed it in was that my mate at the other end too 8 for 16 in 11 overs! He got about 4 wickets with crappy full tosses that my mum could've hit! Overall, a good win but a very disappointing and annoying day for myself...

This line from the skipper on our club's website summed it up: 'JT bowling the unluckiest spell in the history of unlucky spells'

It was only a no ball because I lifted my heel up.

Not a no ball. A no ball is when your foot is over the line. Some portion of your foot, whether it be raised or on the ground must be behind the line.

Really? I didn't know that, I thought it had to be touching the ground. That makes it even bloody worse, because it was the umpire who said I had lifted my heel up! ARGGH!
