Cricket Heroes launches funding campaign

It’s been a long road for Cricket Heroes, in development since 2007, the game has transformed massively over the years, from a pixel art game to 3D models; and from a simple arcade style game to a management game and simulation with career mode, and even the basis of our recent PlanetCricket Premier League forum tournament where the game was used to simulate matches.

However developer Kurt has recently decided that the game needs to take the next step, with an Indiegogo campaign being launched to overhaul the graphics and really polish the title up.

In Kurt’s own words,

“After a long, hard road Cricket Heroes is on the verge of being released. We’ve received excellent feedback regarding the gameplay, but the graphics are still not up to par. Unfortunately, the team cannot afford to self-fund the game any longer.

To this effect we’ve set up an Indiegogo campaign (Kickstarter isn’t supported in South Africa) to try to raise the $6000 needed to do a graphics update. This will go towards improving the player models and animations, new stadiums, a training facility, crowd animations, etc. We’ve set up physical rewards for supporters too. Depending on how much you donate, you could receive a boxed version of Cricket Heroes with a printed manual. There are also discounts to be had on multiple copies. I should mention that only $5000 will be used on the graphics refresh – the other $1000 will go towards Indiegogo levies and the physical rewards.

The campaign can be found at: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/cricket-heroes.
The official Cricket Heroes homepage is at: http://www.cricketheroes.co.za

If you can’t afford to donate towards our campaign, don’t worry

Why not try out the demo and let us know what you think of the game? While you’re at it, tell your friends and spread the word.

CRICKET HEROES NEEDS YOUR HELP!”

The one man effort that has been put behind Cricket Heroes is nothing short of astounding, so if you like his work and would like to secure a copy of the game – perhaps even on a disc – now is a great time to do so. You can also check out the Cricket Heroes forum on PlanetCricket here. And as he says, even if you can’t afford to pledge towards it, make sure to give the trial version a go and see how you like it.
