That a game on a phone with limited graphics is considered one of the best cricket games to be released in recent years probably
That even in the comments people refer to BL '98 as the best cricket game. Essentially, that graphics need only be functional, and in fact consistent and focussed art style for a game can actually prove more 'futureproof' than the drive for instantly superceded 'photorealism.'
Oh, still need to give your game a try, last time I downloaded it, I think it was a corrupt file, and the time after the link was being a pain.
It's been infuriating how each cricket game has laid down a playable benchmark for a game, but then never been able to expand and refine those initial foundations. For me though, gameplay is always king. Hours on Dwarf Fortress will attest to that
I don't think it was very good, relying on my poor memory though. It's a shame you're not in the states, obviously it's a long shot, but with something like kickstarter you could feasibly have looked at least a small potential investment to help you consider progressing the game.
If you want to see a sports game done perfectly, you need to have a look at MLB: The Show. There's a game, baseball, that in many respects shares a lot with cricket. Obviously the field placements add more to the complexity of cricket, but essentially, it is a game played over individual moments, by individuals, against individuals in high pressure team situations. It is bat versus ball. With a huge American (and reasonable Asian) market, it gets the full development treatment, is considered to be the best sports game of any type. The frustrating thing, is that cricket could be that good as a game. It's ideal. It has different formats, lengths, competitions. As a single player career mode it's the perfect sport (an area The Show excels).
Anyway, I'm rambling, and my food is beginning to smell like it's burning haha I'll resume more coherently at some point...
