Cricket Heroes - testing & feedback

I was just testing the results from the simulation and thought this was a lol-worthy image (drawn test) :) Simulations run a lot faster now btw - on hardware similar to Meet's, it takes about 30s to simulate a T20 inning (down from 3-4min).

EDIT: Attached an ODI simulation summary.

Make smoother edges for box.

Also any chance for ESC button to go back.

hmm.....:p
GFX is till to be put in.
Take your time though.

@Meet: All in good time - for now I want to focus on getting the core gameplay working. I'll focus on the graphics and presentation soon.

For now ESC is the menu shortcut key. What about Backspace to emulate the Return button?

I want it to be easy to use. I want it so the field editor shows what it would be for a right handed batsman, and then in game, it rotates the field if it's a left handed batsman. And then the field just swaps around if the batsman run a single (if a right handed and left handed batsman are at the crease)

And I think you should just have default fields for bowlers rather than for bowlers against a batsman cause then I don't have to change it for a new batsman.

Also a minor point on that simulated game, shouldn't it be 'Match Tied' rather than 'Match Drawn' as a drawn match just means that the team batting last didn't get the runs or get all out while a tied match means the teams ended up on the same amount of runs (you know what i mean).

@hedger_14: Thanks for the explanation - that would actually make my job easier :) Also, you're completely right about the "tied" versus "drawn" message. I'll fix that too.

Remove play ball in simulation screen, as 99% of the users won't do it,:p and add sim innings.

----------

Also how can we export it?

That makes sense. Look for it in the next update :) Also, you don't need to export anything - the commentary is automatically saved at the end of the game to a file in the \Commentary folder.

@Meet:

1. Do you mean that it crashes? Or does it just not display any lines for that batsman?

2. Do you mean in the key control screen?

No, it only shows spider for 2nd batsman, its not showing for the first batsman. When we view the 2nd batsman the arrows disappear which helps us to rotate players.

Hi guys,

just thought I'd post what I've fixed so far:

- update batting physics
- updated ball physics
- updated fielding
- updated AI field setting
- fixed A Team & Board XI selection
- added Statistics screen short cut in game
- changed header font
- added timing bar
- fixed toss
- made simulation more efficient
- simulation screen is more responsive
- added Simulate Inning to simulation screen
- removed Play Ball from simulation screen
- tweaked simulation results for all formats
- added wide screen video mode (1366x768)
- moved Simulation speed option to Gameplay menu
- changed "Match Drawn" to "Match tied" when teams score the same number of runs in a test
- Backspace has the same effect as clicking on "Return"
- fixed bug in new games
- added running lights
- added PIP view
- added aggressiveness based on actual batsman strike rates (taken from ODI's as tests are not available and T20's are unreliable)

And what I'm working on at the moment:

- field settings screen
- replacing stamina and concentration circles with gradient bars

If there's anything in those lists that you feel I haven't covered and should be done *before* the update tomorrow, please let me know.

Cheers
Kurt

EDIT: And a screenshot to show what the interface looks like at the moment. For the running lights:

Red - don't run
Yellow - run, but be careful
Green - safe to run

It *looks* like it works well, but I haven't tested it enough to say that it *always* works.

Cheers
Kurt
