Cricket Heroes - testing & feedback

Cheers. I'll update the Australian, South African and New Zealand ones first then work on the rest.

The only problem I'm going to determine how I should rate a player who performs well in one format but not so good in the other.

So what of an idea of FC and OD specialists? Just have a Yes or no option for both formats and if yes is selected, then that player will have a slight bonus for that format say of like 10%.

Then say I was doing Simon Katich for example (first FC specialist I could think of). Then I would put say 76 for his batting, and tick yes for FC specialist and no for OD specialist. Then he'd have a rating of 84 in FC games and 76 in OD games. And then with players who have no particular preference, give them their rating that suits both formats and tick no. I think it's a pretty smart idea to just do that, and saves me from having to decide whether to do FC or OD ability or having to do two separate rosters.

Excellent idea - the game does something similar already, but applies the modification to all players at the moment. I'll add that flag so we can distinguish between them properly.

Or just instead of saying Yes or No, just have a number.

So instead, you could have:

Katich: 76 (FC+11, OD+0)

I don't mind which you do. It's fine either way for me. I'm not looking to be very precise, so 1 or 2 points in one format off isn't really a big deal.

And most of my stats for the top batsman at least will be taken over stats from the past 3 years and the current ICC rankings, although more stats than anything.

Yeah, on second thoughts, much prefer it that way. And to start off with, I decided to make a list of all players that will have a rating of 80+ in either format. Anybody feel free to give advice. I was pretty tired when doing this and looking at so many different numbers have given me a bit of confusion on what ability to give everyone.

But yeah, feel free to choose any players that should have a batting rating of 80+ in either format. And feel free to point out those that should be just below 80 as well although I'll most likely be putting them close to 80 anyway but I'll just be going through the countries individually doing that. But yeah, I did it this way to make the strengths of the teams actually reflect.

I'll get around to the bowlers a bit later.

Cheers, I'll see what others think as well and whether I should balance them. Now onto the bowlers now that I've had dinner. Then sleep. I probably should have done that first but I hate having been away from the game for so long that I want to get stuck in straight away :p

But yeah, once I've done the top bowlers, it gives me the base for the rest of the roster and makes the rest of the job a lot easier without having to worry about balance too much.

By the way, can you add an age column in as well. Cause once you get the team career up, you'll need to get player ages to decide how players develop.

Not sure what you mean although assume you just mean for your one player and that's it, cause yeah, it should. And for when you make the team career, everybody's age should be taken into account so yeah, that's why it's better to put the ages in now.

And okay, finished the bowlers although it really is a horrible job. Since most bowlers are ODI or Test specialists, it's a real mess so I don't really know how accurate it is. I'll do the list first and then split it into ODI and Test ratings.

Those values make sense to me. It all looks nicely balanced (although Steyn's ODI rating should possibly be a bit lower :P). Get some rest, I'll sort out the spreadsheet and send it to you later tonight.

Sorry for the delay everyone, the update isn't quite ready just yet. There's a few more tasks I need to finish before I can upload the new patch.

...one of the key changes I'm working on at the moment is the physics. In the transition from 2D -> 3D something went...a little pear shaped...and the physics didn't look quite right. I've reworked it for the most part and it looks a lot better now.

As I'm typing this, S Meaker just sconned Mr Cricket, the ball dropped behind him and flicked off a bail :spy
