Cricket Leagues - Feedback and Suggestions

I doubt there's been a case of that. He's just spitting out words.

Touche. It's pretty far-fetched to suggest someone start a league and ran it well just so they could win LOTM, then stopped it or continued it at a lesser standard. But then again virtual money can do crazy things to people.:rolleyes

Don't rate them exactly as the stats show. Try to weigh the no. of matches they have played (domestic and international), total no. of not outs, current forms, level of your competition etc etc.

The four things I use are:

* Player's Averages (All formats of the game)
* Recent Form
* International Experience
* My Perspective

Huh, I forgot you had posted that from CL3. Would have saved me a ton of time. But looking through it, it seems pretty close to what I rated the players in the end.

Btw, I want to run an idea by for a league. It'll focus primarily on younger players and international newcomers.

-50-over league (maybe FC matches if people want it)
-Basically it'll be a league where you draft players who have either played 50 ODIs or less or played no ODIs at all. You can have one (or two) who have played more matches as your veteran. (might catergorize players, may not)
-1 veteran allowed in lineup and at least 3 of the players in your lineup must be under-23 years old.

This would require a little more skill and knowledge. That's sort of the gist of it. Haven't thought of a name yet. Thought I get some feedback on it to ascertain whether it's worth starting. Better to find it's a crud idea now than when I've started it. So your thoughts and or suggestions would be appreciated. This is still in the very early stages of planning and I'm in no hurry to start it.

Gosh I hope this ain't too similar to Varun's 'A' Championship. I'll have to look through his thread to see what its like.

Yeah, it sounds like an decent idea.
I wouldn't really be any good at it, outside New Zealand players.

Would there be any country affiliations, like eight teams (one from each of the main countries), then you have local and international players, or would it just be a free for all?

I think there have been similar things before but none are around at the moment. There isn't really a good FC engine anywhere except for the one that bcvs used in his WW-III story

If it was country vs country then it would be quite similar to Varun's league, but a free for all one would probably be better

I'd probably just keep it to one format, then it's much easier to select a squad.

Mine is an 'A' team FTP. :p
Plus the fact that I'll stop it after Season 5. (season 4 & 5 ODI and Test world cups respectively)

If your league isn't a FTP kind of thing, and it would be a generic country one, then I don't think it'd be very similar to mine.

Yea it would be a free for all. But if you think about the 50> ODI qualification, there are some decent players who qualify. Hashim Amla has only played 37 ODIs so he could be picked. Also the number of matches a player has played would be checked before each round eg. If Amla plays his 51st ODI, he would have to be dropped an a replacement named.

Thanks guys for your suggestions regarding ratings!!

Can I know higgest batting avg, higgest bowling avg, lowest batting avg and lowest bowling avg for players??

Also, do mention some players and their ratings so that I can get some more ideas!!

Idea seems to be really good :)

For me, highest bat avg for pure batsmen is 40 and the lowest is 27 (including pure all rounders).

Highest bowl avg for pure bowlers is 27 and the lowest can go anywhere upto 35, depending on the player.

For me, highest batsman is 40. Highest domestic batsman who hasn't played international cricket is 34. A random domestic batsman is 30. All-rounders are anywhere between 20 and 40.

Highest bowling is 27. Highest domestic bowler who hasn't played international cricket is 30. A random domestic bowler is 33. All-rounders are between 27 and 40.
