Cricket Stories

Yeh, sorry, I forgot that there are no records of any incidents prior to the invention of the Internet, on the internet, and you've posted that, after someone has posted links to back up your stories. =/

Maybe Times of India may be a somewhat refutable source, but that doesn't mean I'm going to necessarily believe it. Strangely enough, not every single story posted in the paper is truth. Russell Brand Live was on last night, and he read a story from one of the English papers which was 100% fabricated, regarding a supposed incident in a Nightclub between Brand and Tamara Beckwith, a woman he's never met. It may be a direct quote from Sachin, but Max Dillon told us it was a story first spilled by some other bloke. I seriously doubt that Sachin would have ruined a hotel room, just for abit of a laugh at Ganguly's expense, it's pretty stupid if it is true.

I think we are drifting away from the topic. I should either change the Thread title or we should get back to the initial topic.

Lol at max dillon for posting such a stupid thing. Anyway, I don't believe it as well. You are right, it is nowhere written that everything appearing in the papers should necessarily be the truth. Now you may want to ask why I attacked you for your post, well, this time I lost my temper:p Anyway, I have no hard feelings about you mate. These things happen in internet-forums, just piss them off from your head. Friends?

Well, then daily telegraph would not bother to cover what mischief a 18 year old is pulling in a indian hotel, they have plenty of other stuff to handle. Telegraph may be a respectable paper in uk but it is nothing in India. Similarly Sidney morning Herald is respectable in Australia and Newyork times in USA. These all newspapers are good in covering their local news and a small portion of international news. Thus a incident like tendulkar one might be very significant for Indian newspaper but it might not be of any significance of for Telegraph or Newyork times. Thus they dont cover it. In simple words, a Newspaper is covers its national news deeply,it can only covers very significant foreign news in 2 page international section.

P.S: I read it on daily telegraph website:" What if Ashes 2009". man thats a really funny article. It is definitlely Not the stuff reputable newspaper are made of.

Max, I think King Cricket was just being sarcastic there! I mean no offense Max, but you can't read sarcasm. Just look it up on Wikipedia.

I got carried away. However, it is ture that English media has too much at their plate to bother bout covering anything else. (Pieterson-moores fight, sacking of captain,5-0 loss to india, coming Ashes,IPL,EPL,Pommies,Harmy,Freddie......)

Jesus, you're not a moderator. You were just as off topic with the post before me. Anyway it is thread evolution, it is not like people are spamming or trolling

Lol. I was bored, fancied posting upside down for once. Alright?

:p

Back on topic. Here's a good story for ya. England have a team of players with immense talent, all of the top 5 averaging above 40, yet are playing like idiots against the West Indies. One of the current whipping boys of world cricket. There's a good story for ya.

Maybe you are right. So i have changed the thread to Cricket Stories. Now we can dicuss all kinda stories.

here is a very recent story.

Wednesday was Sri Lanka’s Independence Day and the teams were invited to a Presidential function. Coming as it did a day after the series was decided, and the hosts had been routed, you’d have expected some awkward moments between the sides. Not a whit; the only distinction was in attire - the Indians dressed casually in team T-shirts and jeans, the Sri Lankans in formals - as they mingled fairly freely. The ice-breaker seems to have been the IPL, which has blurred national boundaries (and language barriers).

Before they left, Muttiah Muralitharan was chatting in the hotel lobby with Yusuf Pathan and L Balaji; Murali's Chennai Super Kings had lost to Pathan's Rajasthan Royals in last year's final. "We would have won if your catch had not been dropped off my bowling," Murali said. Yusuf laughed, and retorted, "Yeah, [Suresh] Raina dropped
me, didn’t he?"

"Why don't you try to hit me here in this series?" Murali taunted. Yusuf’s reply was a no-brainer - "I hit you in that final!" Yusuf hit Murali for three sixes, picking 24 runs from 12 Murali deliveries, in an innings of 56 that swung the game. "No turn in that pitch," said Murali, and the three laughed before leaving the hotel. The president was waiting.

I don't agree completely Regarding Dhoni's story. The thing was that Dhoni used to play Football for his School as a goally.(which is a well reputed school i.e. D.A.V. Shyamli). Once a time, the School cricket coach was looking for a player as the permanent keeper was absent. And so he called Dhoni as he was impressed and this was the start of his cricketing carrerr. You may think Dhoni is glamorous but his father still used to go to market for buying Vegetables with his Milkman's type bicycle.

Yuvraj Singh:
He wasn't very poor to say the least but its his journey that had earned him a place in this thread.
He was born in a middle class family. His father was a first class cricketre and had played just one match for India. Believe it or not, Yuvraj's first love wasnt cricket. It was Skating. Yeah, thats right. Yuvraj was a brilliant skater and has been skating since age of 5. He had won Gold at Junior Skating World Cup. But his gold didnt pleased his father. He got really angry at him and told him to never touch skate again in life. His father was angry coz he wanna his son to become a cricketer and get success which he never got. He was annoyed to see his son interested in anything other than cricket so seriously. from that day yuvi got bat in his hand and his father gave him net sessions day in and day out. Yuvi eventually become a good player and got into under 19 side, but he never fall in love with the game unless he had tasted success at international level. Since than you can see his love and passion for the game.

It is really hard to believe that a player like Yuvraj has been made a cricketer forcefully.

P.S: Damn! why didnt BCCI get yuvi's dad as head coach in national academy.

Well Yuvraj was from no Middle lass Family
