Two legends actually, Langer and Martyn were good players but not legends.
Langer is a legend...he is one partner of Australia;s greatest runscoring opening partnership of all time...and only just shy of the greatest of all..which is the West Indians Gordon Greenidge & Desmond Haynes.

So? When you look at all the modern day batting legends such as Lara, Tendulkar, Ponting, Inzamam, Dravid putting Langer in that bracket just doesn't fit the bill.

Off the top of my head:

1) Miandad's Sajda after hitting the winning runs against New Zealand in '92 WC semi final.

2) Wasim's back to back deliveries in the final and Imran's speech.

3) Saeed Anwar's 194.

4) Inzamam's 329 and Akhtar's 6/11.

5) Akhtar's back to back deliveries that got Dravid and Sachin in the Asian test championship.

6) Multan 2005.

7) Afridi's 4 sixes off Harbhajan.

8) Yousuf's double century against England.

9) Asif's spell against Sri Lanka.

10) Asif's over to KP in the ODIs

11) Inzamam vs New Zealand in WC 92.

12) Karachi 2006 against India and then West Indies are both up there for me.

Langer is the toughest cricketer since the bodyline series he always overcame the odds and was always under pressure from others to keep his spot then ended up forming one of the greatest opening partnerships of all time and scoring just over 7500 runs and 23 test centuries is quite an achievement in itself

India's WC 2003-WONDERFUL
India VS Pakistan at Centurian- Tendulkars 98, The master at his best
Sehwag 309
Sehwag 195 (WOW)
Laxmans 281-BEST INNINGS I HAVE SEEN TILL DATE
Dravid 180 Kolkata
Dravid 233-Adelaide
Agarkars 100 against England
Irfan's hatrick
Irfan hitting Warny for 6 =)
Bhajji 2001
Last Years ASHES, English victory :clap
Lee @ WC03
Bichels 7-for in WC03
Kenya exit from WC03

but as an alltime greatest moment it has to be said that pakistans world cup 92 victory has to be in the top 3
being written off in the pools and only coming through cos a match was rained out and not winning a match in the pools(think they won 1 not sure)

and inzi's performance in that world cup has to be one of the greatest world cups for a individual

now dont say tendulkars 2003 stats were the greatest
sure he took his team to final but didnt lead them over the line
inzi should have been the man of the tournament in 92 cos he announced himself to the world in a way we might never see again

But they are all middle order bastmen...Langer is a great opener...his average opening is around 50...that is great in anyones language...and probably apart from the guy he opened with (Hayden) he is probably the most consistant opener in test cricket

Also you mention Rahul Dravid....great player and i fully agree a legend of the game....Rahul has played 107 matches for 23 centuries and 46 50's

Justin Langer is fairly similar with 105 matches 23 centuries and 30 50's.....Justin Langer like most Australians has a very good conversion rate for 50's/100's

For me
Langer and Gilly's partnership at Hobart v Pakistan
McGrath hattrick against the Windies
Symonds 143 v Pakistan during WC 2003
4th inns of Edgbaston 2nd test 2005 where Aus were written off but nearly won it
2nd Ashes Test Adelaide 2006 5th day
Gilly's 56 ball Test match 100

For me, the greatest moments are,

1) Qualification for Sharjah finals which was done single handedly by Tendulkar against Aussies.
2) Sachin's b'day century in the same series.

3) Yuvi's amazing catch ( like Rhodes ) in Champions Trophy against SouthAfrica ( dont remember which yr, but that catch made the things to slow down for SA & got them to loose from winning position )

4) Sachin's amazing knock against Pakistan in WC03.

5) Venkatesh Prasad dismissing Aamir Sohail very next ball after showing some signs to Prasad in 1996 WC!

6) Astle's fastest 200 against England which made them(England) panic at the last moment though England won that match.

7) Dravid's 230+ in Australia.

8) A.Donald's silly run out in WC99 against Aussies which lead to an tie & Aussies qualified. The way Klusener batted was just amazing!

Langer would have to atleast be considered an Australian legend, really he never had the talent of the players playing around him but his desire for the game is the reason why he played over 100 Test Matches and made over 20 Test Centuries; to compare his statistics with anyone above him is unfair. His grit and determination is admirable.

Lara's 400 Australia and South Africa were they both scored over 400 and soutrh africa won i was watching that
